Ionic Watchface too big for small wrists

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I'm sure the Ionic will be fine for some folks, but many of us small-wristed women have been waiting for a smaller faced Blaze for a long time now.  It would have been nice if Ionic came in a smaller sized face along with this first iteration.  I will not be upgrading from my Charge2.

But- look at all the wasted "hard space" in those dumb angles! If they didn't exist, it'd be great! :'( Nothing important is IN those chunky parts! Dumb move, Fitbit...

What slim options are on Amazon for the ionic ?

i didn't mind the Blaze on me paired with the slim band. It made a huge difference to me compared to their standard band.

I thought the 42mm Apple Watch was too big on my wrist. The 38mm was a nice fit on me.

- Ionic

- 42mm AW3 cellular

- Vivoactive 3

The 38mm AW3 is even smaller.

Size wise, Charge 2 is better option if you want Fitbit tracker. I was at Apple Store on Monday and a lady put 38mm on her wrist and it is a very nice size for small wrists.

Yeah I knew it was gonna be big...i was hoping just not too high

I want the smart watch type capabilities and unfortunately the charge 2 isn't that.

I had the 38mm applewatch and sold it. It did a terrible job at recognizing my steps and I hated charging it every night/no sleep tracking.

Ionic is not that high, and versus Blaze is more contoured to the wrist. Ionic is just simply big on small wrists. I mean not as big as some fashion watches, but you likely aren't interested in those either.

I'm always surprised by the sleep tracking comments. I have the original AW (AW0), the battery life on AW2 and AW3 is much better (typically 1.5-2 days). Even with AW0 my 'watch on at 5:30am' and day ending after 10pm I still have 40% battery left on a typical day. No problem sleep tracking, and it is so easy to slap on the magnetic (no contacts!) charger that if you extensively use watch during the day then just putting it on charger for my 20-30 minute  morning/evening bathroom ritual is enough to keep it going 24x7. And if you really want to save battery swipe up for two tap enabling of airplane mode and theatre mode.

I haven't seen any reviews about step counting issues, and I certainly haven't had any. All these wrist trackers will count arm movements as steps, and count fewer steps if pushing a shopping cart. I've actually gotten more accurate step counts in Apple Health versus Force/Surge/Blaze, because both phone and watch count steps. My Fitbit app only grabs steps from iPhone, even with just that I get as good step tracking (minus arm movements) versus Force/Surge/Blaze. You'll note there are a lot of reports about extra steps on Fitbit community forums, its just something you'll get from arm movements on wrist based trackers.

I thought the Blaze was too big at first, but I got used to it.  I tried a smaller AW, but after wearing a Blaze for so long it felt too small.  I think it's all what you're used to.  The Ionic fits almost exactly like the Blaze.

I wore my Fitbit flex and Apple Watch on the same wrist. 4000 steps less on my Apple Watch by the end of the days consistently. Various walking tests...elliptical...it barely detected strides on my elliptical. It was annoying. Apple insisted i needed to calibrate thru several outdoor gps walks.  I did a couple and it didn't make a difference. My phone is usually sitting on my counter or something. So that was never any help.

I have a Charge HR and even it is so big it's annoying to sleep in. I don't mind the size during the day. And my wrists are extremely small -- 6 inches/15 cm.  If anyone has wrists that small and has the ionic, I'd love to see a photo of it on your wrist.

For me, Ionic is another disappointment from Fitbit. Another watch that doesn't fit women with small wrists. Its not just the watch face that is too big, its the construction. I have 13.25 cm wrist and the bulkiness of the sensors and the way they make it does not allow it to properly sit on my wrist to measure anything with much accuracy. I would pay a lot of money for a fitbit watch that actually fit me and was comfortable. Until then I stick Fitbit One.   Beyond fit, would be nice if fitbit made something that didn't look so masculine and like strapping a calculator to your wrist. The Apple watch fits me just fine....and it has much better looks...so it can be done. Are there any women that work at this company?

Hey fitbit, if you are listening, I'd be happy if you'd like to use my wrist as a model in your next focus group. I have been a loyal fan for 5 years.

Absolutely. Not just women - my shirt cuffs are tailored for my wrists and it's already hard enough to slide my Blaze in and out of my cuffs. Various industry rumors points towards a Blaze 2 to be released next year, I'm hoping they can keep the current Blaze size and just upgrade the sensors, increase the screen brightness, and add in waterproofing. If I wanted a massive smartwatch I would have bought an Apple Watch or one of the million Android Wear ones.

LOL, thanks for the afternoon humor:

And that is the larger Apple Watch, the smaller one is made for small wrists or people that want a smaller watch.

And versus Blaze:

I could not agree with you more. It’s so frustrating to me that Fitbit (a company I love and have stuck with for years) would make two back to back watches clearly catered to men. And they’re biggest and best and most revolutionary one? Of course would not fit nine out of ten women. It’s frustrating to feel non existent to a company I have been loyal to for a long time.

Umm I'm a women and do not find it catered to men. Its not that big. Its the same size as my polar watch And some times I wear them on the same arm together for exercise to compare

Completely agree, it seems to be catered to men.   Then offer something smaller with a 3 day battery life, however when you see the model pieces it is definitely possible to design something smaller.   I was excited when I had heard of the options then really disappointed when I saw the size.

If I decide to purchase then  it would be used ONLY for exercise and no other time due to the large size so may as well get a Garmin or Polar only for fitness vs a smartwach/activity tracker.

I agree so much! I actually got the Blaze and returned it because it felt like a men’s watch. I was also disappointed that the iconic is about the same size. Hoping FitBit comes out with a small smart watch face for women!

I disagree. The apple watch is more dainty for a women and it’s about the same size. Just they way they make them feel huge on a small wrist.

That’s exactly right. It’s the framing and bands and not necessarily the screen that makes it feel bigger.

See it’s the way the watches are framed. Very masculine in my opinion.

You clearly must only use yours for workouts. Wearing it daily in a professional environment or even day to day feels too large.
