Ionic Wi-Fi and bluetooth connections are unreliable. Especially for loading personal music.

This is a Ionic fitbit user's observations. I have programed and built computers for over 35 years. While I believe the Ionic is a good product and does a reasonably good job of tracking steps, heart rate, and exercise, the WI-Fi and Bluetooth design is weak and often fails, especially when one attempts to us a PC. At best the connection is intermittent. It is unreliable, frustrating, and will likely take up many hours of your time to stay connected.

The greatest loss of time is if one attempts to load personal music. After two days, I managed to load 23 hours of my personal play lists. This should have taken less than a couple of hours. The Wi-Fi connection was often lost, which is very disappointing, since it takes about 10 to 15 minuets for the Ionic to catalog the status of the Ionic before it will revise the loaded play lists. The only reliable interface for communicating with my Ionic seems to be a smartphone, even after purchasing FitBit's USB Bluetooth dongle. However, my smartphone is not the desired way to load personal music. I bought the Ionic to eliminate the need for a smartphone user interface. To this day, if I want to change clock faces or reconfigure the Ionic, I need to use my smartphone. Maybe they should call it IRONIC.

After spending hours and hours futzing with the Ionic to get music-playlist / Pandora loaded and the weather app to sync I'm convinced the Ionic needs settings to:

Bluetooth - select the device you want the ionic to "talk" to.  It's, well a pain, to have to turn off Bluetooth on all other devices that happen to be nearby.  I actually did that once on a Fitbit Support call -- turned off Bluetooth on my phone and lost the connection from the Flyer that I was using at the moment.

WiFi - Manually turn on WiFi and have it stay on until I turn it off.  Yes, this could be a battery hit if one forgets to turn it off after finishing whatever one was doing when it was turned on.
