Ionic WiFi

I added 2 wifi networks but the Ionic doesn't stay connected to them or doesn't look for them. It should look for them every hour, set up a time or stay connected to them so the weather app ous updated.

Wifi is connected when you have connected to the charger, you can manually switch from the mobile, mine auto senses the one in range when it starts charging, since one wifi I set up is at work and the other at home I haven't experience choosing between two in range.  I assume this can be selected from the wifi setting on the mobile App as well when active (tracker charging).

No issues with weather App, it is showing current data even though wifi is off (Ionic not charging)

I should not have connect my phone to the Ionic which will drain the battery faster and I should not have to connect my Ionic to the charger evrytime I want it to sync the weather to the Wi-Fi which is not good for the battery. The Wi-Fi should turn on every hour or so to see if it's in range to the network and sync if it is and turn off; if its not in range then turn off and try again in a hour.

The reason I want it is cause I work in one city and live in another. I have my works Wi-Fi and home Wi-Fi setup on my Ionic.

Same as me. But, again, my weather app is updating if not connected - yours?

Last time I was hooked up was at the house Friday evening, been at work three hours this Monday Morning...

@Rafster83 by design, it seems that Fitbit designed Ionic to only use WiFi for downloading music, apps, and firmware updates and loading music.

I agree with you that Ionic apps *should* be able to use either WiFi or BT, however at this time it seems apps must use Bluetooth to access the Internet.

ahhh, makes sense. Yeah, has to be bluetooth because if my phone isn't with me I'm not getting notifications either.  Not sure I'll need realtime weather app updates for tomorrow while running, the predictions cover the rest of the day and me and my mobile will find each other by day's end to catch up.  Wouldn't expecting realtime wi-fi on the road be sort of like buying an extended network plan with a phone carrier or are we simply discussing while in range of connected wifi which would mean your phone is probably close anyway? Getting confused.  Good discussion!

Apps should be able to refresh data from Internet using either Bluetooth or WiFi. In particular at home why force me to go find phone if I'm in garage or outside, and my phone is out of Bluetooth range? At that point I'd just use the phone and not bother with looking at watch.

I tried Ionic's wifi connection on two brand new Ionic and neither of them were able to stay connected longer than 21 seconds. I kept pinging the device while connection is being established and throughout the process and it failed every time after 21st ping request came back.

I also tried two different open and password protected networks, home and away, and neither worked. It is obviously a bug on Fitbit OS.
