Will the Ionic have XL (greater than 8.1")  wrist bands available like the Alta HR?

I have many fitbits and use third party bands for color and style. I presume that's the route I will have to take.  It's just inconvenient to buy the product than have to buy a band

Because for $300 I expect it to fit out of the box.

I think the ionic should come in XL wrist band size

After reading posts about the band size here is an image from my post in another topic showing my "L" band on the Blaze.. It is 9.7" to the last notch from the buckle..    I have pre-ordered

I was all excited to pre-order the new Ionic for my husband, then when I was ready to checkout, I saw that it only goes up to 8.1. Who only makes a watchband that small? I need a 7 inch one, and my 6'+ husband needs at least a 9" and prefers a 10". Nice job in segregating a large audience for this new device.

How is that possible? The maximum diameter of 8.1 inches is the same size as the Large band that was offered for the Blaze. What is it about the 8.1 inch (maximum) band for the Ionic that makes you say it will fit most people that formerly had to order the XL (8.2 inch and larger) band?

I've already heard Fitbit's excuse for not making a larger band, pretty generic excuse, bottom line is a lot of people want a larger band for various reasons. Fitbit  come on man, there's a market for a larger band. I will be figuring out how to extend the band ASAP!

Bunch of hooey! It boils down to the almighty dollar! Fitbit won't make enough money to make it worthwhile making a larger band. Start cruising Etsy, the first one to come up with an DO band is going to rake in the cash.

Not being able to purchase the Ionic due to the idiotic notion there is no need for the XL size, I just tried to buy a Blaze on this site, and what do you know...all of the XL Blazes are sold out!!! Sounds like a solid case for making the Ionic in XL wouldn't you think?!?!

My wife got her's today, and the Large is not 8.1 inches....it is 9 5/8 inches!!!!! Not sure why they are miss-marketing this information, but it is bigger than 8.1 inches!

@ParkCityRunner Thanks for confirming the size. It agrees with my images for my Blaze in an earlier post.

Cheers for that. Insane that they have the wrong information up on their site, and that no Fitbit employees apparently know what the true size is!

Yes.. I have found few third party bands in this list https://www.indabaa.com/best-fitbit-ionic-watch-bands/

Size does matter, make XL

Agreed. My wrist measures 8.2. The band fits but it's less than comfortable, like a belt in the last hole basically. I can't find a third party XL band yet but will buy one when there is...

Not sure how long it is, but it fits my 8.6 inch ankle, albeit, a bit snug.
