I’m having the same problem and contacted Fitbit support earlier this week.  They said that their engineering teams are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.

Anybody seen any updates on this issue?

I still receive calendar and app alerts on the ionic but text refuse to go through. All settings on app and phone are configured correctly. Both have been hard reset, deleted and set up as new etc.... Its a very specific bug that seems to only apply to text message alerts on the watch.... Hope there is a firmware update soon..

Hi,

In settings/notifications on my iPhone, the box labeled "show in history" needs to be checked if the Ionic is to receive the notifications.
This you have to do for every program you want notifications from.

If not, try:.........

    1. Under settings on your iPhone please select the option ''Notifications''
    2. Then select the Fitbit app.
    3. Please make sure that ''Allow notifications'', ''Show in notification center'', ''Sounds'', ''Badge app icon'' and ''Show on lock screen'' options are all in green.
    4. Then, under the ''Alert style when unlocked'' make sure that either ''Banners'' or ''Alerts'' are selected.
    5. Finally, please make sure that the previous steps are met on those apps that you would like to receive notifications from.
  • Finally let's confirm the bonding using your app, to do so, please do the following;
  1. Open your Fitbit app, there please tap on the little watch picture on the top corner.
  2. Then scroll down, and select the ''Notifications'' option.
  3. If both are bonded, you will see the notifications options, please make sure that they're all in green.
  4. If there's no bonding you will see ''Bluetooth pairing required'' tap o ''Set up'' to continue.

  1.     Restart your tracker since it calibrates the internal hardware. For more information, see How do I restart my tracker?

  2.     On your mobile device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.

  3.     Turn off Bluetooth, wait 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.

  4.     Reboot your mobile device.

If notifications aren't working after the restart and reboot, please try the setup process (of notifications) again:

  •     Tell your mobile device to "forget" your tracker:

  1.     On your mobile device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.

  2.     Tap your tracker and then tap Forget Device.

  3.     Log out of the Fitbit app.

  4.     Reboot your mobile device.

  5.     Restart your tracker once again.

  •     Turn on notifications in the Fitbit app:

  1.     Open the Fitbit app and tap Account.

  2.     Tap your tracker.

  3.     Find an option to turn on your notifications.

I have spoken to tech services and performed all these settings multiple times.

I'm told now that engineering is aware of the issue with IOS not receiving text on the tracker.

They are supposedly working on a an update to fix but have given no timeline.

My Blaze received text for a year without issues. No matter what settings I change, reboots, deleting app, deleting ionic and restoring to factory settings the text will not work. Calendar, calls and third party app notifications all work, its only test messaging that has never worked with ionic.

When I go back to my blaze the text work immediately so its definitely with the Ionic or its firmware.

People should confirm the exact version of iOS they are running. If they haven't upgraded to the latest for their phone they should.

Iphone 8+ running IOS 11.0.3

The above platform displays text on blaze without issue.

Only the Ionic will not display text on this same platform with the same settings.

Ha! I just figured it out!!

go to  notifications,  go to messages,  make sure "show in notifications center" is green.. I had everything green  except that one .  When I slid it on I receive my messages on my Fitbit immediately.

I hope this work! I been trying to solve this for 2 days now.

The Nov 17 Fitbit App update solved the problem for me. I am now getting text messages on my Ionic (from iPhone X)

After the Nov 17, 2017 update to the Fitbit app my Ionic is receiving all text and iMessages from my iPhone X.  I also removed the Ionic and reconnected it to the Fitbit app and restarted both the phone and watch. Good results, will update if any problems reoccur.

Has as the update solved the issue for others?

Glad to hear it is working, @LollyG!  Hopefully it will continue functioning normally as the system matures.

I have a Charge 2 paired with an iPhone 6S with iOS 11.1.2 and had the same issue. Call notifications worked but text did not. I found that the "Show in History" setting was disabled for text messages. Enabling this allowed text message notifications to come through.

I have the same issue. I had an iPhone 6S Plus when I got the Ionic. Text notifications worked for about a week and then stopped. After about two months, I upgraded to an iPhone X and text notifications have never worked on the Ionic. It sucks. This never happened on the Surge.
