Still having issues with my Ionic.  Did all the above/previous suggestions and I am still without notifications for ALL alerts including email, text.  My Ionic is basically a watch right now, sans "Smart".... thanks Fitbit.

Not fixed. I tried all of the suggestions, but it still doesn't alert for
text messages.

This seemed to do the trick!

I’ve had this issue since the surge first came out. I even had my surge replaced and still was getting no texts.

Enableing the “show in history” fixed the issue for me. I restarted the phone and the watch as well just in case.

Thank you!!!

Mine works intermittently - it's so frustrating as I rely on it for calls and messages, especially from my kids when I'm at work, and invariably miss them.  I've done all the software updates etc.....didn't have issues like this with the Blaze.

FIXED IT!!

For those of you that never originally received text/email notifications (out of box), I am not sure this will work for you.  My Ionic worked great out of the box for about two weeks and then all text/email notifications shut off without warning or modification to preferences.  I uninstalled device from fitbit app, deleted Ionic Bluetooth profile, restarted both iphone AND Ionic and still, I could not receive notifications via Ionic.

To fix, I followed the instructions in manual to do a full factory restart.  This wipes the unit clean and starts with a clean slate.  I booted up, synced to my iphone and tada... I have notifications back on my ionic.  I am 4 days in and all is good but fingers crossed I don't lose connectivity again.

I have this problem too, but if this is what it takes to fix it, Fitbit needs to address with a patch. I don't want to have to do a full factory reset to my Ionic. I have music on it, Pandora is set up and Fitbit Pay is setup, in addition to other things. This is BS! I never had these problems with my other Fitbits. Also, why does it alert for phone calls and voice mail, but not texts and emails?

Thanks,

JM

PS, The Allow Texts in History thing did nothing. Not even a hint at working.

Thanks...the ”Show in Histroy” worked for me!

I lost Text Messages notifications a week or so ago on my iPhone X with latest iOS.  All other notifications were working as expected, ie Calls, Calendar Events, and App Notifications (which is really nice).

I recalled wanting to clean up what showed up on my History screen and turned Messages off not knowing/realizing the ionic is dependent on this setting.

So, iOS > Settings > Notifications > Messages > Alerts > Show in History

After doing everything possible but doing the factory default, I noticed this additional shortcut on the Ionic; On the clock screen, swipe right to bring up the shortcuts screen. Make sure you can receive notifications from your phone. Walla...this did it. for some reason this was disable by mistake.

I did that. Notifications are set to allow. Everything works except for
text notifications. I can see Amazon and Weather updates and all of that.
Just no texts. It sucks because it worked when it was brand new (maybe for
a week).

Make sure the notification are all green (Calls, Text, Calendar (if wanted) on your FitBit Ionic app.

Just got my Ionic today - this is the only thing that isn't working...yes, Fitbit needs to address this.

Mid February 2018. Intermittently, I stop receiving notifications on my Ionic from my iPhone, so I came to this forum to see what's up. Note that I can see heartbeat live, etc, but for whatever reason I stop getting iPhone notifications, (and Yes, I swiped right on the Ionic and confirmed Notifications is on).

Looks like general frustrations from everyone here with no clear culprit!

So here is how I occasionally fix the problem fairly quickly and without loss of settings, by rebooting the Ionic (hold left button and bottom right button for 10 seconds), and while it's doing that, I log out of the iPhone App and swipe it away to close it, I tell the iPhone Bluetooth to forget this device, I launch that App, log in, setup new Ionic device, answer yes to replace the  existing device, key in the Ionic's number, and accept the iPhone's request to pair the Bluetooth to the Ionic. All of my settings remain the same, so this is fairly painless to do and relatively fast. After pairing, one final check to do by going into the iPhone Fitbit App, Devices -> Ionic -> Notifications -> App Notifications, then come back out of App Notifications, ensuring that the number of apps is now non-zero (it turns zero occasionally, even though I have a dozen apps permitted). Then voila, I'm back in business, receiving notifications on my Ionic just fine.

So, in summary, I'm shotgunning for an underlying problem, that lies somewhere in the iPhone's Fitbit App getting confused on allowing notifications, and/or the Bluetooth channel that it is paired to becoming deficient (so "forgetting device" then "pairing" sets up a fresh channel), or something in between. This shotgun reset is fast (I'm not factory resetting either the App or the Ionic, so nothing is lost), and I get on with my day. Frustrating, yes, but my experience is that I don't know if it's Apple or Fitbit to blame, and I just want it fixed.

I am completely frustrated with my ionic fit bit.  I am about to return it.  It received my text messages and phone calls the first two days, but now it has stopped.  It also shows that I have no runs recorded in strava.  I have taken the app off my phone, restored the ionic to the manufacturer settings and reloaded the app on my phone.  But it has not fixed the problem.  This watch definitely has been a disappointment.

Tried everything and nothing worked until I was on my clock and I held the left button down for a few seconds and notifications popped up and it said it was turned off.  I changed it there and it works now.  Keep in mind in the app I had notifications turned on.  So it must be turned on in both locations.

I have a ionic with an iPhone 6.  Just bought yesterday.

Hello,

just got off the phone with customer support.  the new software has an undocumented feature... Push the left button and hold it down, it will open up at the wallet, swipe to the right and there is a "Notifications" option; after the upgrade mine defaulted to off.  Turned it on and everything is working.
