Check the device you are using to sync. Has it been set to hook up to a 5 GHz network only? If so then like me your syncing has forever been hit and miss. After many months my husband figured out that that my ionic will only sync on a 2.4GHz network. So on my tablet he has set it to hook up to our 2.4GHz network all the time and not the faster 5GHz. Now my Ionic connects and syncs flawlessly every time and syncs in mere seconds. He has said from the beginning that using the solutions provided by the supposed Fitbit techs was crap. Install/ uninstall/ delete your Ionic is merely a shell game. If you don't know how to set your syncing device to use only the 2.4GHz bandwidth then check with the manufacturer. Don't rely on the auto bandwidth function of your router as the Ionic needs better programming and until they do it seems not to sync anytime a 5GHz network us connected to.

Hey there @HoneyBea, it's nice to see you around! Thanks for sharing your experiencing and for letting us know the steps you took in order to sync your Ionic.
Your Fitbit watch can connect to open, WEP, WPA personal, and WPA2 personal Wi-Fi networks. Your watch won’t connect to 5GHz, 802.11ac, WPA enterprise, or public Wi-Fi networks that require logins, subscriptions, or profiles. If you see a captive portal when connecting to the Wi-Fi network on a computer, the network isn’t supported. A captive portal opens a web page in your browser and could ask for a username and password, payment, or acceptance of terms. This is commonly found when connecting to Wi-Fi networks in hotels, airports, coffee shops, and other public places. For best results, connect your watch to your home or work Wi-Fi network. Make sure you know the network password before connecting.
Note that you can connect your watch to a personal hotspot which lets you share the cellular data of your phone or tablet when you don’t have access to a Wi-Fi network. Additional data charges from your mobile carrier may apply.
Hope this information helps to you and other users who may jump in here facing a same situation.
If there's any questions present, let me know!
