my Ionic battery died before I could "end" a hike. Now if I view that workout the stats and map do not appear, only a "spinning" circle. Can the file be repaired to "end" the hike at the point the battery died?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @BernieMorse! Sorry to hear that your Ionic's battery died before ending your workout.
I'm afraid to say that there's no way to recover this activity (or any other that wasn't synced previously). What I'd recommend is manually log the activity. To get more information, please check the article: How do I manually log an activity or exercise?
