Ionic buttons no longer worked and pedometer does not stop

I have been using a Fitbit Ionic for a few months now. I regularly go swimming, without problems, the Ionic neatly registers the swims. However, this morning the buttons no longer worked. Furthermore, the pedometer does not stop, it continues to run.

@SunsetRunner Welcome to the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.

I would like you to check the following details that might affect your swim data:

  • You completed only a few laps
  • You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool
  • You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
  • You changed your stroke type midway through a length
  • You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms
  • You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized

Regarding your inquiry about your pedometer that doesn't stop, please let me know if your Ionic is continously tracking your steps even when you're not walking? How many more steps are you seeing?

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for your quick response.
Unfortunately your tips did not help.  That is why I went to the store with my Fitbit Ionic (Mediamarkt).  It was found there that the display was broken.  Because the Ionic was only a few months old, bought in June, I was able to pick out a new Fitbit.  That has become a Versa2.
Have a nice day and a friendly greeting

Dear,
Because my Fitbit ionic has broken within the warranty period, I have been able to buy a new Fitbit. That has become a versa2. An excellent service from Fitbit. The information on the versa 2 states that this watch, like the ionic, is suitable for swimming. While swimming, the ionic indicated the number of lanes, meters and time on the screen. The app also provided an overview of the different strokes I had swum. Unfortunately the versa 2 only shows the time on the screen, in the app the number of meters. That is very disappointing. Can the ionic swimming software be installed on versa 2 at a next update? It is not the case that only runners, mountain bikers, workout athletes wear a Fitbit versa.
Swimmers wear / buy the versa 2 as well. Now apply the right software, the versa 2 is also talked about enthusiastically in the swimming pool.
Thank you for your answer and effort.
