So add this one to the "update killed my fitbit" list. My Ionic was working fine prior to the update. Following the update I have no display. My phone can see it and synch, apparently. Charging still seems to work but I have no display. Negative results following a restart.

I am having this exact same issue. Immediately following the firmware update, my screen no longer has a display. It does still sync to my phone and is able to charge, but the watch itself is just a black screen. HR sensor still works as well, I can view my HR through the Fitbit app. I have tried restarting it multiple times with no success.

Just got off the phone with customer service. Not a long wait, surprisingly. Ran through the support checklist to no avail. Display is still dark but the watch appears to be functioning. I was offered the 25% coupon towards a new device. Why do I have to buy a new Fitbit device, even discounted, when a Fitbit update appears to be the culprit! Replace/repair what you broke or Galaxy watch, here I come...

So I took one last stab at it and it is working. I performed a factory reset on my Ionic as per this page:
https://factory-reset.com/wiki/Ionic
Only I did steps 1 and 2 after 3, 4 & 5. I did get the red X with the message "Data not cleared Sync & try again". I then added the ionic to my account and scanned for Bluetooth devices. It found the Ionic and began the setup process. It took about 30 minutes but it is running the latest firmware.
Hope this helps someone.
