The charger was working fine until it attached to a metal table overnight. It still attaches to the Fitbit but does not charge. Has anyone seen that?

Confirm you've tried a different adapter with the same cable.

Suggestion: Look over the charger contacts to make sure there is no small dirt or small metallic piece in there that might be preventing the contacts from touching. I found one in mine and a soft toothbrush was sufficient to remove it and make the charger work again.

I tried the same cable in several different outlets with two different
adapters. No luck. The Ionic charged fine with a different charger cable.
The malfunctioning cable worked well until it stuck to a metal shelf
overnight.

When you say it was “stuck” to a mental table, what do you mean stuck? If the contacts were touching the table all night and it was plugged in, it is possible you shorted out the charging block.

My charging station is on a little metal trolly and I left the Ionic Charger on top of it after charging and it stuck itself to the metal upright. I was a bit concerned, but it worked fine afterwards. So at least on mine it didnt seem to have an effect.

Yes, sorry. Not very accurate description. I have always left my charging
cables connected to the adapter. I was traveling and didn’t notice the
bedside table was metallic. So the magnetic end attached to the tabletop
while powered. So I guess it did “short out.”

Thanks for letting me know. Maybe it was the length of time mine was
attached, or the fact it was also powered.

Could you please get rid of this long signiture? These are forums not email, you signed up to terms and conditions of Fitbit your copyright blurb is useless here. Not particularly interested in your book spam either sorry.
Listing your specs is much more useful to these forums.

@Clyffe Interesting tidbit about your charging cable. Is your cable still not working or were you able to get it to charge your Ionic again?
Hoping to hear from you soon.

I have had ongoing issues with charging my Ionic also - very hit of miss. Today has been more 'miss' than hit although it appears to be charging while plugged into my laptop (I just found that suggestion in another thread). The magnetic end of my charger has randomly attached itself to many other things in my suitcase, etc over the past 6 months, but never while it was plugged in that I know of, so not sure how it could have 'shorted out'. Since it's been very random I feel that the problem lies in the actual magnetic connection. I have to hold it in just the perfect position and hope it continues to charge after carefully lying it down. Will try cleaning the point of magnetic connection today...

I have had this Identical thing happen to me after my charging cable magnet attached to my bedside table.

Hi all,
I've just had two separate chargers look as though they've melted. Since reading this forum, I now realised that while they were plugged in to a USB Outlet board (and therefore powered), they were sticking to a metal plate. It looks like the current has continued to flow through it while the head of the charger was 'stuck' to the metal plate and I've destroyed both....silly me.
