Ionic counting steps when not on wrist

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Updated software on my ionic yesterday.  After I noticed that my ionic began to erroneously count steps ( it count steps even when off my wrist).  Subsequently the battery life has been poor ( it dies within a day).

scanned a few threads (where users experienced a similar issue after running an update). However none of the posts by the responding moderators address/resolved the issue. I’ve completed several resets with no luck.

is there a fix for this issue?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Maharri.

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your Fitbit Ionic. Thank you for trying to get them resolved before contacting us.

MobileTrack helps you keep track of your stats when you leave your Fitbit device at home. MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. If MobileTrack is set up to your Fitbit account, you can remove it to see if the issue with your extra steps is resolved:

  1. Tap the Today tab EdsonFitbit_0-1642383178361.png, and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap MobileTrack > remove it

In addition, manually logged activities can add steps to your Fitbit account. If the activity is deleted, the steps will be removed from the Fitbit account too.

For instructions on how to extend your Fitbit device's battery life, please visit this article.

If necessary, you can negate the extra data by following the steps in this article in the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".

Hope this helps.
