Ionic damaged by water

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit Ionic has water inside it. It started acting funny while I was in the shower. It has obvious signs of water on the front screen, which touch is not responding anymore. Was able to sync and it said I walked over 7,000 floors! You can obviously see condensation behind the sensors. Of course I can’t find the receipt and I’ve only had the watch for about three months! Please help!

You really need to contact Support. Even if you dry it out successfully (in rice) it is obviously not waterproof, so needs replacing. Support link in my signature

You need to contact fitbit for a replacement. My ionic screen fall out and got water in it, I had to call fitbit for a replacement.

Same issue here and they can't send a replacement to my country, I am truly sorry for wasting money on this company. They advertise their product as being waterproof but it took one shower to break the device. I really don't recommend buying Fitbit Ionic.

Yesterday I went swimming at our local leisure centre, at first i thought my battery had died. I went home an put my ionic on charge, nothing happened! I looked at my watch an discovered condensation on the sensors. I immediately contacted Amazon where I purchased my ionic from. Amazon patched me through to fitbit but oddly instructed me to stay on the line after my call with fitbit? I was still well within my warranty an took out insurance on the watch also. Fitbit asked me to send photos an information via email an they would come to a decision on what they would do. After my call with fitbit the gentleman from Amazon strongly disagrees with how fit bit handled the call, as he was on the line listening?? an instructed me to ignore there email an he would send me out a replacement for first thing the next day. Sure enough my replacement watch arrived the next morning. Apparently due to me been a prime customer the matter was delt with immediate. Found it extremely odd how the gentleman from Amazon stayed on the line through my call. Any thoughts?

This was my response to the hugely flawed ionic in a survey after a denied warranty replacement...Not necessarily Dorys’ fault, but I have had a lengthy warranty process with my ionic. Most of the time it has been broke or in the process of warranty. I understand you go by date but if I’ve received a New Ionic every time it should last longer then it has. One face and guts fell out, one wouldn’t charge suddenly, now this one has visible condensation and will no longer turn on. Kinda frustrating, I definitely don’t have the money to put towards another watch because my kids are expensive. Maybe you should remove how durable and waterproof it is so it’ll last or get rid of it. Sounds like a headache on both ends.

I'd be so glad if I had that kind of customer service. FitBit has terrible customer service/support!

And the funny thing is that Fitbit, because I bought it directly from them online, refused to ever give me a receipt of any kind.

Mine has also stopped working with signs of water inside. Can Fitbit help repair/ replace? It must be a defective seal. 2/8/20

@mmorales06

Device only comes with a 1 year warranty. Unless you want the 25% discount on the full price, you may as well move on.

Official line is the device is fine for swimming/water sports.  We know better though.

Not really. You CAN crack open the back but It'll never be the same again. Search Google/you tube for details. If it's a throwaway, then I guess you could muck around trying - but the waterproof integrity will be worse than before if you can get it back together.

Some with too much time on their hands have changed the batteries in Ionics/Versas.

Happened to mine as well.  I never swim or shower with it, I just rinse it under the tap after running.  Condensation has evaporated but the panel with the sensors has expanded, look at the edge of the panel in the attached photo.Condensation gone, panel swollenCondensation gone, panel swollen
