I got an Ionic as a birthday gift in Oct 2017.  Within the 12 month warranty period, my Ionic stopped syncing and Fitbit did a warranty replacement.  The second one faired a little better, but died completely in early April 2019.  Fitbit tells me that since I am out of the original warranty, they will give me 40% off another Ionic, meaning somewhere around $160 for a new one.  To buy a device that has failed twice in 18 months.  I realize that Fitbit has the words of the warranty on their side, but I think it is a terrible customer experience to have a $300 device fail twice in 18 months and end up with nothing but an opportunity to spend another $160.  And I find it extremely troubling that so many are reporting total failure of this device within the same week.  That does not sound like a typical warranty failure...

I am a Fitbit customer since the One tracker...and Fitbit customer relations has come a long way since then...in the wrong direction.  Very disappointed!

So I charged it to 100%, then did a factory reset, reinstalled app, then tried to connect, but they wouldn't.

Spoke to a nice rep, Daniel, and it finally popped up, so am now doing a battery test to see how long it takes to drain, syncing manually a few times a day, default watch face, no notifications, etc...minimal extras. Have a case in.with them for results.

BUT it's now working for me again, so keep the hope alive if you can try what I did, and was also recommended in another thread to me that I also commented on.

I connected my Ionic to my computer last night to load some music in it.  Left it connected overnight while the music transferred.  This morning it is dead.  Computer doesn't see it.  Phone doesn't see it.  None of the usual resets work.   Dead, dead, dead....  I received it as a gift in July of last year (10 months ago but no receipt).

It replaced my Fitbit Blaze that had lasted exactly 2 years and 1 month before it died.

So my last two top of the line or near top of the line Fitbit smart watches have lasted less than 3 years combined.  That's over $500 worth of technology headed for my local hazardous waste disposal site.  Not a good track record.

To top it off, this happened right in the middle of our very competitive yearly company wide step challenge.  Guess I'll finish off the challenge using my wife's Fitbit Flex, which is many years old and still works.

I will research my next fitness watch extensively before I invest my hard earned $$$ into it.  At this point, I can nearly guarantee that it will NOT be a Fitbit product.

Had my Ionic for 2 years and loved it. After most recent update (timing could be a coincidence) the battery started running down ultra quick-  I needed to charge it 2x a day as even if fully charged it wouldn’t last 12 hours of normal use (not using the  GPS). After a week of this it has now given up the ghost entirely and refuses to charge at all, even after cleaning all the points, pressing buttons etc. I figure it’s a battery issue which is a shame as it has been a great watch while it lasted and I’m reluctant to trash it, but don’t have any other options
