Ionic died after firmware update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

After having syncing issues with my first two ionics' fitbit sent me a new one September of last year. A few weeks ago my ionic crashed and died from running the firmware update. Since it was out of warranty Fitbit offered me a 25% discount on a new Fitbit device. I called customer service today and spoke with another rep and still they only offered me a 25% discount.  I am extremely dissatisfied with Fitbit and will not purchase another fitbit device. And i will definitely try to discourage anyone else from buying one. I will definitely NOT recommend Fitbit to anyone. Guess it's time to move on to Apple or another brand

@Lfors1121 Thanks for stopping by.

I appreciate the time you took to share your experience with our Support team. Thank you for sharing how this situation has made you feel.

It is particularly difficult when the device is no longer covered by the warranty, but even tough Support is eager to help with any problem you may experience with the product, they do need to adhere to the official warranty policy, this would start counting from the original date of purchase.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

If my fitbit died after having it for a long time or.if i did something to
break it then i understand. But to have it crash and die after running
your firmware update should be on you. That watch cost almost $300 brand
new. It should last alot longer than 1 year and it shouldn't crash likw it
did from a firmware update. I'm very disappointed that fitbit treats its
customers this way especially since it's such an expensive product. That
is my 3rd Ionic in less than 2 years because of syncing issues. The 3rd one
only lasted 1 year. It worked fine until the firmware update. But crashed
during the update. I read the forum and know I'm not the only one who had
this problem. This is totally unacceptable.

Same thing happened to me. They are totally not owning it. It's like they are saying too bad for you. Irresponsible actin. By the way, I can get it cheaper than the 25% discount on Amazon.

So sorry that happened to you too. I'm looking around at other options. I
refuse to buy Fitbit if their firmware updates are going to crash my
device. I'll buy from a Competitor. Bye bye Fitbit..

My trusty Ionic is now two years old and it died last night after firmware update now let’s see how I get treated!!!!

my wife’s Apple Watch had problems after an update and apple sorted the watch in one visit to the Apple store! Then it went on the blink a few months later and they replaced it no charge......

If your watch is 2 years old you’ll probably get a 25% discount on your next purchase. I switched to Apple a few weeks ago. My daughters have had theirs for several years without any problems. Hopefully i won’t either. I’m done with Fitbit

@Lfors1121 @Finestone hi guys. Have you tried turning your ionic watch up by long-pressing all 3 buttons at the same time. If it doesn't work, try plugging in the cable (with it charging) and repeat the long-pressing of 3 buttons.

BTW, the sync and/or watch notifications issues etc.. are likely just problem with fitbit and/or android new security update requirements. So there is no need to do any reset on your watch nor you need to buy a new watch.

Hope the 3 buttons help to wake up your watches

This did not work for me either. Fitbit worked with me though. Just keep communicating with them.

I tried working with Firbit by email and by speaking with their customer service. All it got me was an offer of 25% off my next purchase, which is nothing on an almost $300 watch. Switched to Aople, Fitbit lost my business.

The exact same situation I just experienced. My device was absolutely fine until the firmware download. After 1 hour chat with support and 2 emails with a supervisor at “customer support” they will offer me 25% off. That’s terrible as they destroyed the device not me. I will not be a FitBit customer again. This is robbery cloaked in firmware.

I am sorry this happened to you as well. Not sure what makes Firbit think we will continue to buy anything else from them when their firmware updates  killed our devices. I broke down and went with Apple and so far so good. As much as I loved my Ionic I will not go back to Fitbit
