Ionic display not updating sleep tracking or daily exercise data.

As per the title, my Ionic has stopped updating the sleep tracking and daily exercise stats although the app on my phone still shows all correct stats. I've tried turning the Ionic off and on again to no avail.

I've recently had to resort to turning off the Fitbit app's access to mobile data as it was chewing up my data allocation overnight and draining the battery. It's possible the lack of updating the stats on the Ionic has occurred since the last firmware update.

Is anyone else having similar problems? And any other suggestions for getting it to work as it should?
Thanks

@dlucas7 It's nice to see you on the Community. Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried.

It's pretty weird that your Ionic isn't updating your sleep and your daily exercise. I would like you to try the tips mentioned in this article for your Ionic not tracking your sleep, the tips will be useful if you're not seeing sleep stages or sleep at all.

Regarding your workouts, I would like you to make sure you're tracking the activity using the exercise app on your Ionic or that you've set 10 or 15 minutes for your watch to recognize the exercise.

Also, please reply to the following questions:

- Are you seeing the normal sleep pattern?
- What kind of exercises are you doing and they aren't being tracked?
- Do you use SmartTrack or the exercise app?

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Hi Silvia,

it’s not that the ionic is not recording the stats as they appear and are updated ok on my iPhone app, it’s just that when I swipe up for the daily stats they are all incorrect and look like they haven’t updated since 27th November, which would coincide with when the last firmware update was applied. The only stats that are correct are the steps, heart rate and  food - I’ve also noticed that the weight display is also incorrect as I’ve lost a couple of pounds but this stat is also out of date.

is there a limit to how much data the ionic will hold? Do I need to clear some data from the watch? ( I don’t use it for music so the only data on the watch is the daily stats).

Thanks for looking in and your assistance.  🙂

In addition to the above, and to answer your questions:

- yes, I can see my sleep patterns/stats but only on my phone app, not on the ionic - the stats on the watch are stuck from 3 weeks ago.

- I play squash, tennis, cycle and walk and these stats show on my phone app once the ionic and phone have synced but again they don’t show on the ionic display when I swipe up - the stats shown are 3 weeks old.

- No, I do not use SmartTrack or the exercise app, the ionic just recognises that I’m doing  an activity by my heart rate increase ( and probably distance covered over time).

It looks as if sleep, exercise and food trackers are not displayed on the Ionic anymore - I only have steps. activity and heart rate as options in the Ionic 'Today' stats when swiping up. Looks like you have to use the Fitbit app for other stats.

@dlucas7 Thanks for getting back.

Since you're Ionic's data is still showing outdated information. I've shared your post with our Support team and they will continue assisting you through email.

Is there a limit to how much data the ionic will hold? Fitbit Ionic will save your data minute by minute for 7 days and a summary of your data for 30 days.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Well what do you know, my Fitbit Ionic has just started working properly again!

I've been having trouble getting the weather app to work on the Ionic too, it would work ok when syncing with my iPad but not the iPhone. So I deleted the Fitbit app from my iPhone, tuned it off/on again and re-installed the app. Weather and Sleep patterns/Weekly exercise still not working in the 'Today' app on the Ionic and so I gave up.

Several days later I notice that Sleep patterns/Weekly exercise stats are now showing in the Today app with the familiar 'Select up to 7 stats to easily track with the Today app' message showing in Today settings.

Another day or so later and the Weather app suddenly bursts into life and is now picking up regular sync data from my iPhone!

What's going on!! Not complaining, just glad that my Ionic is now working as it should/did.

David
