Ionic display randomly turns off

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For a few days now my Ionic has started to randomly fall asleep. By this I mean the screen going blank and staying blank in spite of me pressing the button on the left. It does come back to life at some point if I press left button and upper right button and wait a while. But the ”while” is long enough to render my Ionic useless for example as a clock and makes it impossible to quickly check something on it.

As I said, the phenomen is random but for the last three days has happened more than once a day. This doesn’t affect collecting data. And seems to be independent of the levell of charge. My Ionic is running the latest software, or at least my app hasn’t notified me that there would be a newer one available.

What causes this and how do I get rid of it?

Hi @Hapero, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here. To better assist you and further investigate, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Are you using a Fitbit original clock face or a third-party one? The issue randomly gets solved or the battery of your Ionic needs to be depleted to sort this out? In the meantime I receive your answers, please restart your device.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Hi!

The first time this happened was last Friday morning, October 16th. And my time zone is UTC+3. Since then it’s happened one to three times a day. Today (remember the time zone) at 7:30, 10:15 and 11:44, so far... Today I have restarted it on all three occations.

The clock face I’m using is I believe Fitbit original, the Arc.

This morning (the 7:30 incident) it acted as if the battery was completely depleted, gave me the 0% look. But as I was certain it could not have gone from above 30 to zero overnight, I didn’t plug it in and instead restarted it. And after the restart the battery was at 33%.

Looking forward to hear from you,
Katja

Anything new on this? This still happens more than once a day. And I’m starting to get annoyed...

Okay, I’m done.

I got my first Fitbit in December 2014 and don’t even remember the names of all the devices I’ve had over the years. Most of this six years was good but sadly the last six months with Ionic have left a bitter taste in my mouth. So bitter that replacing this currently useless piece of plastic with another Fitbit is not even an option. Polar Ignite looks good and I’m fairly certain to find it under the Christmas tree this year.

So long and thanks for all the fish.
