Ionic display turns on but then slowly fades to black

I've had my Ionic since March '18.  I'm sitting on my couch and all of a sudden it vibrates.  The thing is I don't have it set to vibrate on notifications. When I check it the screen won't turn on. I google how to do a factory reset.  Doesn't work.  The screen turns on for a second and then fades out to black from the edges in towards the middle. I google the issue. FitBit customer service posted on multiple posts on this community saying to reset three times in a row..... Ok....whatever.  15 resets later and it still isn't resolved.

The other solution is to submit a warranty claim...?

The watch is 15 months old.

If this $300 dollar watch is trash 3 months after the warranty expires, I'm done with Fitbit.  I'm not buying another watch. I'm selling the scale. And the second I brake even on their garbage stock, I'm selling.

My case is a bit different and I am a happy customer of Surge for almost last 6 years that I bought from India.  Now I am based in India and last November 2019 when my friend based in the US who was visiting India later in Decemer holidays asked me if I need something from the US.  Eventhough I said I need nothing, he sensed that I am becoming a fitness freak and was using a Surge, and got me a Ionic.  I was very happy to have that as it has a colourful screen and infact i was very excited to see that.  I might have went for couple of runs last December and the screen went unstable and fades away as we could see nothing remains there for more than few seconds.  I tried a lot many times to restart and of no use.  I feel awkward to tell my friend that he got me a faulty one, and he might feel embarassed.  So never took it up with him.

I honestly hope that I could somehow make it work and use this Ionic as well for another six years.

Is it possible to claim warranty for a product that was bought from the US last November and was not working while it is still in India.

As it was Corona and with other reasons like father of a 2 year old daughter and a 6 year old son along with couple of septuagenarians to take care, I didn't find time to bring this up to this forum until now.

Hope someone can make some miracle happen with this wonderful smart watch to make it work.

Thank you.

Do you have, or can get a copy of the purchase receipt. The warranty will be honored pretty much everywhere as long as you have it or can get hold of the purchase receipt

If you've perused archived threads in this forum and tried ALL the reset suggestions, then there is pretty much NOTHING Fitbit customer support can do other than send you a replacement. It's a bit of a rigmarole, but worth the effort for a replacement. Word of warning though. Don't swim or shower with the Ionic. Why? Read through the archived threads from the last several months.

Now might be the time to have a conversation with your friend, if you need the receipt. A scanned copy emailed to you is still a legal receipt in most jurisdictions.

I wish I could help.
I got nowhere with fitbit.

I ended up throwing out the broken ionic, the working fitbit scale, AND all
my fitbit stock.

Never going back to fitbit

I asked my friend in the US and he send me the email bill of the same he bought it from ebay as a brand new.  To courier this product back to the US and get a new one shipped back to India would cost more than the price of a new Ionic.

Is there a fitbit customer care number in India?  Even if so, would they respect the waranty for an US bought product?

Thanks PaulMe.
