Ionic face plate came off

Beginning with the new year my ionic would not hold a charge and when I picked up the device, the face plate separated from the body as if the seal has been broken. The watch is never in water which leads me to think this is a quality issue given the number of others reports. This is my second as I received a replacement for faulty straps so now faced with a choice of staying with Fitbit or an alternative. An change to the warranty would do so much to improve brand equity.
