Ionic frozen during latest update...

I tried updating my Fitbit Ionic today with the latest update available. After waiting over an hour it still wasn’t done, I closed the app on my phone and now my Fitbit is stuck with the icon on the screen and it can’t find my device when I try to restart the update on my phone. I’ve tried turning my Fitbit off but it’s not doing anything now. What can I do??

Have you tried restarting the Ionic? (Press and hold the left button and bottom right button together for 15 secs).

Thanks, I was having the same problem and this got it back online.  Unfortunately, it still says I need to do the update so there must be a bug with this update?

I got with support and a customer service rep walked me through it. I had to do a hard reboot but my fitbit worked right after that and I was able to do the upgrade with no issues. (I turned the WiFi off on my phone and it seemed to help too)

 

My Fitbit wouldn’t reboot holding down the left button. The hard reboot was holding down all three buttons at once for 12 seconds,then letting go of the top right button after 8 seconds, and it reset itself. 

 

I hope this helps anyone who runs into the same problem I had!

I had the same problem.  It took me 24 hours to finally get the update to work.  I took a 5 hour break to sleep.  Mostly it would get stuck about halfway through, I'd give it an hour before resetting the watch and trying again.  I tried it from my phone and my computer. I did restarts and I also did hard wipes where I started over.  The time before last, it made it to about 90% before failing so that gave me hope.  I restarted the watch and tried again.  Ultimately, what made it work via bluetooth, connection to my phone.  I received a message on my phone that the update was complete but the watch was still stuck at 90%.  I restarted the watch again, checked settings then about and found that the update did finally take.  I then updated my apps and it still took several hours before the weather app started to work but right now everything is working.

Yeah everyone seems to be having the same issues.  I feel like Fitbit used to have thier stuff together.  I’ve been really disappointed with the majority of thier latest products.

Mine is doing the same as well. Got the hard restart to work but unfortunately now I can’t get an exercise to start. I’m guessing because the update was halfway done?

I have been trying to get past this update for days now without success.  It always fails around 80%.  Now I cant get my clock face to load and none of my apps on the watch are working...its just glorified wrist jewelry at this point.  I have tried all of the advice to reboot the watch, unpair my bluetooth, uninstall fitbit on my phone...nothing has worked!

Same issue here, been since yesterday with this update. Very frustrating. I was on the phone with CS doing all the crap I had already done. The lady was nice, but absolutely no help.

I had to do the hard restart. Hold all three buttons in at the same time and it will take a few seconds but the watch will restart. Then start the update again. Mine took about thirty minutes to complete. I also turned off the Bluetooth on my phone and use the Wi-Fi for the update.
