My ionic has been great for a year, used mainly for tracking cycling routes, effort, heart rate etc. Recently it has started under recording the mileage eg a known 26 mile route was recorded as 16 miles, but it got the route spot on.
after an hour on fitbit chat it turns out this is a known fault with no fix. They wont replace the fitbit and they hope i understand.
the ionic is now expensive and useless...frustrating as it has been so good. Anyone have the same problem or know how to fix?

Can you upload your route ( export TCX file from your dashboard ) and check the distance using mygpsfiles.com/app ? You can also see whether Ionic made any shortcuts which would indicate losing GPS connection ( it is the most common reason why the distance is way off ). What activity was it? Unfortunately, as a user, all you can do is to restart your watch at least a million times ( 😉 ). But seriously, there is not much else you can do and I doubt there any other solution but switching to a more reliable device.

i have checked the distance and the fitbit got it wrong. Fitbit have said there is a known fault and seem to think its acceptable to leave it at that.
I reset the ionic, reinstalled the latest software and it recorded route and mileage correctly. Lets hope it continues.
