My ionic completely died and I have tried to charge it for a few days now through that USB on my computer and in the wall with no luck. According to the app it says my battery is completely dead and phone will not connect to it. I have cleaned the cable and connections but the charger works for my wifes, so I know its the watch. I'm not sure what else to do? I've tried to restart it holding the buttons with no luck? Can someone please help?

I’d like to think that even though they havent come out with a New Ionic that maybe the newly produced Ionics are trying to deal with the problem. If not they have created a product that has an unintended planned obsolescence.

In any event it’s taken a couple of months but I think I’m a week or two away from my credit card’s extended warranty feature coming thru.

If the credit card company pays for a New Ionic I will give it one more try. I would have liked FitBit had come out with an Ionic 2 that officially fixed the longevity issue plus added a few new features. It’s been 3 years without a new model. Streaming audio would be nice along with more banks with auto pay.

I had the same problem. Once you have tried everything all that you can do is call Fitbit and if your are within the 12 month warranty period you can get a new watch.

Or if you purchased the FitBit with a credit card that extends your warranty then you can apply for them to reimburse for the cost of a new FitBit unless you have passed the extended warranty period.

If not then you can ask FitBit for a discount for a new watch. They offer a 25% discount.

I was lucky and was covered by my credit card company. It took a bit of work, emailing info back and forth but in the end TD Visa did pay for a new watch.

I am hoping that newer builds of the Ionic are dealing with this problem. If not and if my New Ionic dies again without lasting 3 or 4 years then this will be my last FitBit.

Good Luck.

Exact thing happened to my Ionic.

only difference at 02:10 the morning I woke up with the device burning my wrist and too hot to even get off. Eventually got it off, but couldn’t get it to switch off so I let it lay on the bedside table and it eventually just died.

i have tried for over 6 weeks now following everyone’s advice , trying to charge, cleaning ports, using different usb charge points , resetting and resetting, but nothing works.

and yes, it’s out of warranty- really annoying

Wow! I’ve never seen it burn anyone. Notice how support has disappeared?

There is no support, because there is no confidence in their own product!
25% off of a new one at 250.00 is a slap in the face!

So push the left button and the lower right button together and hold for like a minute or so and it should reset - mine finally did and so did my hubby’s - got that info from Fitbit support

I just tried the "Factory Reset" on my dead Ionic and nothing is happening. I've had my Fitbit Ionic for almost 2 yrs now and I passed this to my daughter and now it's dead.. like dead, dead!!!

What did I do to fix it? I've cleaned the charging ports and the charger and tried  different locations to charge it and it wont take!

Please advise!

Try charging it on your computer.  I hadn't used mine in months and tried charging it for days on the regular wall charger with no luck.  Connecting it to my lap top worked for me. good luck!

Same thing happened to me.  I cleaned, charged it, and did a factory reset.  It came back on for a few hours and then when I checked the time, it displayed a red battery symbol.  Charged it again overnight again and cannot get it to turn back on.  This is the second Ionic that I have had.  Any other ideas?
