I have a Huawei P smart phone.
If you make the bluethoot connection, there will be no pin code on the watch.
This way you can not connect.

My GalaxyS9+ (Oreo as well) had ZERO problems connecting to and syncing with my new phone.
I was worried when I got it, but it sync'ed seamlessly!

Mine is not syncing correctly with the S9. It connected briefly after a run, and has not synced since in 8+ hours.
Unfortunately, it is very clear that some of us received faulty Ionic devices. The Fitbit fanboys on the forum kept claiming it was my old phone (which actually had been syncing ok for the last few weeks after the Fitbit app and Ionic firmware upgrades). I spent $700 on a new phone to make a $300 watch work... and it still doesn't. I'm definitely switching back to Garmin when I'm ready to upgrade devices again.

I agree, there have been some over zealous folks...But on the flip side, there have been a bunch of negative ones too. I tend to mute all that and focus on my device.
I can from a T0mT0m Runner 2 for tracking my runs to this Ionic. I am lucky enough that i haven't had issues with mine. I guess I need to hold onto it tight!
FYI, mine was not a launch product. Bought mine the day after Thanksgiving.

It's your Huawei. Works fine on the Google pixel xl 2.

I totally agree with @JamesIonic. Huawei in general has quite few problems on BT connection, particularly the P series. I suggest one of the moderator to change the title of this discussion as not reflecting the real status.
