Ionic is not syncing and and stopped tracking new information

Looks like I'm in the same boat. Yesterday, I threw my Ionic on the charger (just before 2pm). I came back an hour or two later, strapped it on, and it hasn't synched since my heartbeat since. So, I left it. Maybe this could just be one of those times where the Ionic and the app needed more of a chat to update and all would be good in the morning?

Nope.

I woke this morning and checked it out. The heartbeat is perpetually stuck on yesterday. Other stats, such as sleep (got all my overnight hours!), steps (this morning and last night), activity (yesterday's activities), and water appear to be updating. After having reset my Ionic and logging-in, I still cannot receive any notifications (despite having notifications set - even Notification Access) nor can I tweak the settings of my chosen watch face. This is frustrating and this is disgraceful, Fitbit. After HOURS of hassles with unpairing BT, re-pairing BT, logging out, logging in, factory resetting, updating the firmware, and downloading Fitbit's ridiculous, non-functioning desktop software (for MacOS) as a last resort. So, some things are working and many things are not. Par for the course!

EDIT (incl update/correction):

The following tracking data did not update for approx 12+hrs beginning approximately 2019-03-27 ~ 1340EDT due to synch hanging issues. Tracker did not track (or update) the following stats:

  • heart rate
  • sleep
  • hourly activity
  • floors
  • active minutes

Additional Noted Issues:

  1. Notifications not working at all, despite toggling them off, then on -both on the device, in the app, and on the site.
  2. Settings for Clock face (“Stats” v33.1.26 by Fitbit) not working. Clock face can be changed (to other Fitbit clock faces), but settings (i.e., text color) does not work properly. All Clock face settings (internet, run in background) are enabled.
  3. Repeatedly encountering internet connectivity issues within the app, specifically when attempting to load a different clock face for testing purposes. Spamming [Retry] has now become a hobby.

Attempted solutions

  • Toggling Bluetooth on/off/on
  • Force Quit, restart app
  • Pairing, Unpairing, & Re-pairing.
  • Account Login, Logout, Login
  • Clear app cache & data
  • Battery optimization: OFF
  • Uninstall app, Reinstall app.
  • Ionic reboot, shutdown, re-start, reboot
  • Data optimistion: off
  • Background data: allowed
  • Unrestricted Data Usage: allowed
  • WiFi/Data Usage not blocked
  • Checked app AOSP permissions: call logs, contacts, location, phone, sms
  • Factory Data Reset on Device

I even toggled to a different VPN server, to no avail.

Ionic FW v27.331.30

Fitbit app v2.84 (rolled back from v2.85 after rolling back from v2.90)

Android 9

OOS 9.0.4

And, of course, if anyone is in a jam like OP and I, you do a search for the symptoms you're experiencing and you get led back to the same old, outdated posts wherein a Mod shows up, pastes all the lines about resetting or how to contact their abysmal Customer Service and nothing gets truly resolved.

What's really sickening is that this device isn't open source, so, we're locked into their proprietary code, on their proprietary network, with no REAL, effective help to be had.

Even sicker than that? Time and again, the really big device issues seem to happen (search for yourself) well after the product return window has passed (and, even if it hasn't, you're still obliged to pay out-of-pocket for something) -despite the good amount of money you've already given Fitbit.

Shenanigans!
