Ionic is not tracking steps, heart rate - Battery drain

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Ionic has been working fine over a year and then I noticed it has stopped tracking steps and heart rate. Additionally, it seems to have gone from full charge to only 35% in about a day and a half.

It also started lighting up at night (in bed, even though it shouldn't) and doesn't react properly when I turn my wrist to see the time (need to over exaggerate like mime). I've reatarted the device and tried updating and resetting it. No joy. Please help.

Hi @Thanassi360, welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here, seems odd that your Ionic is behaving in such way. To fix the issues you're currently experiencing, I'd like to recommend you our factory reset procedure. To do so, please follow the next steps and let me know if the issue persists:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Let me know if further assistance is needed and if you have any additional questions.

Hi @RicardoFitbit ,

Thank you for your reply.

I have tried these steps as requested and the device is still not reading heart rate and after a quick jog around the house, there are no steps added.

Any other ideas?

I believe it is still within the 2 year warranty here in the UK.

I have experienced identical issues over the past few weeks. Fixed the first time by allowing the battery to fully drain, charging and restarting. This time no of the 'fixes' are working😔

I see they still must not have fixed the last update that messed with mine in Oct. AND now I see you are going to discontinue the Ionic???  that is just crazy, for awhile it was the best Fitbit you had.  NOW just figure out why the update screwed it up and you will have alot of happy customers.

and they won't do anything to fix it.  Back in Oct/Nov they FITBIT messed with all the Ionics and refuse to fix it, but they will off you a $35 towards another fitbit.  This is my third fitbit to go to hell on me.  I had the Blaze before the Ionic and that did the same thing

With my ionic IT also started on 01-01-2021.

IT seems it has to do with the last update, but receive no help from Fitbit.
