My Ionic will show calories burned after sitting on the charger all night. So no accurate calories burned

Yes, it will because even if you're not wearing your watch you still burn calories. When not worn it just burns calories indicated by your BMR. This is correct behaviour.

Welcome on board @KJHshorty, it's nice to see you around here! My friend @KJHshorty is right! Smiley Very Happy

Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the rate at which you burn calories at rest just to maintain vital body functions like breathing, heartbeat, and brain activity. Your BMR usually accounts for at least half of the calories you burn in a day and is estimated based on the physical data you entered when you set up your account: sex, age, height, and weight.

The calorie burn estimate that Fitbit provides takes into account your BMR, the activity recorded by your tracker, and any activities you log manually.

Your tracker's calorie count will reset each night at midnight and begin counting immediately thereafter. BMR is the reason your tracker starts the day with calories already burned—you've still burned calories even if you haven't gotten out of bed yet.

I woke up and it had calculated I had burned 3447 calories! That is definitely not within a normal reading. 5 days straight it has recorded over 6000 calories when I have not exerted myself at all

@PhantomWombat is your step count looking wrong as well as your calories? If it's just the calories then it's worth checking that your profile settings for age, height, weight etc haven't accidentally changed as this would have a direct effect on the calories calculations. You can check yours at https://www.fitbit.com/settings/profile
