Ionic runs slow, loses 1 minute per hour if not synced, and only syncable througth cable and laptop. after six months of flawless running. how can it run slow? syncing by cable sets the time right, but i cannot sync all day long...

It's nice to see you around the forums, welcome @ionicpleasure! While reading your post I was curious to know what you mean by only syncing through cable?

Also, please take a look at the article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? to verify each requirement in order for your Ionic to sync properly.

Note that if your tracker is not paired or not syncing, it won't show the correct time as it grabs the time of your phone. Check this post in case the time keeps showing wrong.

I'll be around, keep me in the loop!

I have by now restored my fitbit Ionic to a working display, and it seems to work.

I am however unable to sync between the Ionic and my telephone (Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge; not an issue for six months previous).

I can however sync in a peculiar and very labor intensive way.
1. i connect my fitbit to my computer, with the cable. (it does not work otherwise, untill now)
2. i go to my account screen in the app on my phone and click set up new device
3. i get the message that there is already a Ionic connected.
4. i click on replace
5. i agree with the conditions
6. i then break of the procedure, but my fitbit is actually synced.

My phone cannot find the fitbit watch via bluetooth, so it seems, and by now i am fed up with re-installing everything every time.
I've dumped and reinstalled the app, I've set back the fitbit tot factory settings and installed the software several times, but often i don't get a connection to do so, it's all rather erratic and unpredictable.

So my question now is: based on the above information, do you have suggestions for any, preferrably simple, solution?

The fitbit worked fine for seven months, but it started doing strange things while on vacation in an other country.

Mine seemed to start with running slow.  Way slow.  Lost 7 minutes this afternoon. Not syncing with the phone. To sync I have to close out app. Disconect Bluetooth.  Reboot the watch.  Reconnect with Bluetooth and it will update.  I cannot keep doing this several times a day.

Update: i synced this morning via the long byway, since then i lost again 7 minutes.

I do not like "smartwatch" that cannot run on time for a few hours. And it did ok before, and i wasn't syncing every hour.

So i determine i have two issues:
no connection through bluetooth, and a clock that does not run on time even remotely.

At times i am under the impression that my watch and my phone/app do see eachother, but i then get a message that the pincode for bluetooth is nog right. I installed de watch-software two days ago and then i automatically get a question about pincode, but after that moment they no longer seem to talk.

Could my phone hold the initial pincode and my watch by now a new one?

On the phone itself there is no "pairing" option of some sort that i know of.

I am having similar issues with a Galaxy Note 4! No problems for six months!

Welcome here @Kudds! Sorry to hear that you're having inconveniences with your Fitbit Ionic. In order to sort this out, please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Ionic and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device" for iOS and "Unpair" for Android.

Once you've made sure about that, go back to the Fitbit app, go to the "Account" option in the upper right corner and select "Set up a Device". This should start the setup process for your device. Smiley Very Happy

In addition, I think it's great that you update the Fitbit app to the latest version (iOS and Android). I always recommend keeping both the tracker and the Fitbit app up to date with the latest versions.

Hope this helps, let me know the outcome!

Hi,

I am facing the same issue here (keep not syncing and losing time). I've tried ''all'' of the suggestion on the forum, and decided not to waste my time anymore.

However, As you mentioned, ionic grabs time of my phone, doesn't is mean I cannot count solely on my Ionic while trying to run a marathon? (Since now my watch lose 2 mins every hour)

Isn't this a design flaw? The watch should be able to show the correct time even if it's not syncing with the phone.

Personal feedback.

Thanks.

Hi there @YenpingL, thanks for stopping by! Sorry to hear about the syncing difficulties you've been experiencing with your Ionic. Thanks for already following the suggestions on the forums.

While reading your post I was wondering if you've checked that the mobile device you're syncing with is included at: Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?

Also, please make sure you've reviewed: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If your phone is managing multiple Bluetooth connections simultaneously:

  • Your Fitbit device might stop syncing or stop receiving notifications.
  • You can experience interruptions with any consistently streaming Bluetooth connection such as headsets, car kits, stereo audio, tethering, and file transfers.

These interruptions are typically caused by operating system and Bluetooth limitations. It's also possible that an app on your phone is causing the issue.

If you have an Android phone, try these steps:

  1. Turn off the Always Connected option in the Fitbit app.
  2. Disable other Bluetooth connections when not in use.
  3. Check to see if your phone has an app compatible with Ford Motor Company's voice control system. If so, disable Bluetooth on the app if possible or uninstall it.

The API used in these apps makes it difficult for Fitbit to communicate reliably with your phone. Ford provides a list of apps but note that other companies may use the API as well.

Hope this helps, keep me posted!

Has anyone actually fixed their issue with the time?

I generally have to restart my phone in order to get the ionic to sync.

while it's a sad thing I manage because I love the fitbit community and I like the GPS watch so i don't have to carry a phone when running.

And this  syncing routine had been the case for a while I often go a couple days without syncing but I never had clock issues.  I now have noticed that my watch is 10-15 minutes slow everyday for the  past week.

If there a fix or is my ionic dying??

Hi, Fitbit replaced my watch and it has so far been working as it should be! My watch also eventually just went blank didn't charge, until I took it to the store I purchased it from. It started charging there. So I came back and charged it fully. Still time issue but also it stopped vibrating.
Long story short happy to say Fitbit sent me whole new replacement watch! "Ivwas very impressedwith that as other were saying only the tracker, the waych face itself minus bands would come. So now I have had a fully functioning Fitbit ionic watch! I haven't been able to put music on it though but that's because my computer died! 😅😂😦 Anyway of the time os still out check that vibration function is still working? Ask for a replacement! If this fitbit ionic lasts longer than 6 months I may consider buying another as I do like features and the way it looks. If it dies; I'll look at other smart watches. Happy they replaced it. Others have said they are on there 3-4 watch replacement?
Anyway hope it's rectified for you soon.....👍

I'm not as lucky as you.  My watch was already a replacement.  And I just found out replacements don't get warranties. I did get a discount code toward new fitbit, just need to decide what I want to do.  I've had 2 ionics and both died about 8 months in, both had sync issues all along..  tough call. I'm kinda mad that Fitbit doesn't believe in their products enough to automatically have warranties on watches they replaced.

Oh that's not good at all! I'm happy with mine, but if it dies in the same time frame as my first! Then I will never get Fitbit again and will go Garmin or Samsung, Apple if it's had another upgrade? My cousin has had an apple watch since it came out. Not a problem! Also my brother goes apple as thwy have awesome returns policies, but I am just not an apple fan! I'm hoping this FitBit Ionic watch can at least go a year! You know I'm sure I saw a comment of a guy who has had his third replacement? I'll see if I can find it. Sorry to hear! It was so frustrating a smart watch not telling the time!

Now my watch is working so well the way it should I'd be spruiking it non-stop as I do love the look and functions, of the Fitbi Ionic, but if they only last less than a year then I would steer clear of them and never buy FitBit again, only time will tell!

I was having the same problem. Then I checked the world clock time against my phones time and noticed my android phone was fast. So on my phone  I went to settings-system- date/time and selected set automatically and now it works just fine. Will update in a couple of weeks if it is still working or not.

Since I have changed my date/ time to automatic I have had no problems with my ionic.

Hey my experience! Similar to you I haven't bothered to try and get a third replaced or even money just telling everyone to steer clear of Ionic and FitBit!

Comments on other posts! I've gone to Garmin!

I didn't return mine? As they can see it's bricked!!! I recieveed a replacement watch. Neither watch lasted over a year and always seemed to due during updates! Didnt want to do the second update as I w as happy with the way it was going? Then I  did. I gave gone to Garmin!! Here is my experience in an other post!!!

Yes EXACTLY the same with me!

FitBit updates seem to destroy or  brick your watch I only had my first FitBit Ionic not over 8-9 months. I received  full replacement watch after Firmware Version 27.33.1.30 and I received it on the  06 Feb 2019 after stuffing around trying everything forums and the support guys said!!!

After buying an Ionic from Good Guys on 24th April 2018 it played up and just lost time and did not work as it should ; down to it not even being able to give you a correct time and losing time over  period of working time. It worked well for 6-7 months then month 8-9 constant problens after update Firmware Version 27.33.1.30!

So mot even a year out of either watch due to updates . I read of other guys going through 3 replacements!

This latest update 27.70.7.14 has seemingly updated the watch  but continously says " tracker not found"

I like alot of features and then now with Spotify Addition; as I didn't add any songs on second watch memory! I just decided to go to Garmin see if that lasts over a year! Glad they did the update around end of year! Guess it's because Google owns it and they want more money with subscriptions to features we all ready had? sleep tracking ect! FitBit I'm telling people steer clear! I may try a factory reset and sit right under where my router is agaim to see if I can salvage it? Might try to just gift it to my brother just for his cycling; but tell him don't try use other features! Anyway the Garmin I have at half price seems brilliant but will see if it lasts over a year! FitBit as a first time Smart Watcj/Tracking watch you really disappointed! I thought I'd researched it well! When it worked it worked absolutely brilliantly! Though to only  last less than a year! I hope people don't have such poor experiences with it! This is just information for people considering buying FitBit Ionic!!"

Hi

I have had THREE ionics fail.  Fitbit have been deleting my posts.

Before that I had FOUR surge trackers fail....

These products are unreliable in my experience...
