Ionic is tracking nonexistent steps

Yesterday, I looked at my steps and it said 17,000 roughly. I had been watching a movie with my sister, and sleeping. I had barely walked around, then this morning, even before I unplugged it, it said that I had 2000 steps roughly. All the other things were at 0 except for Heart Rate which said 66 resting. I don't know what the issue is. Any ideas?

I’m not sure that this will help, but I had the same issue with my ionic about a month ago, as well as a replacement they sent. Despite resetting both and uninstalling and reinstalling the app on my phone, it would still randomly count steps that I did not get (and the steps would only show up in the total step count and not anywhere else). I also noticed that the issue only happened for me at night when I wasn’t wearing my watch. They asked me to mail back the tracker (which has taken over two weeks) and won’t send me another replacement until they receive it. I’m hoping that the replacement they send won’t have the same issue, but since no one seems to know what the problem is, it might not be worth going through the same insanely long process I am going through without knowing there is a clear fix.

@tkang2004 I'm not sure what you mean by before you unplugged it. Was it on the charger all night?

Do you turn the tracker off while sleeping?

In anycase let's look at the days step chart. Does it show steossbeing recorded this morning?? Could it be that yesterday's 17000 did not reset last night?
