When can we expect th firmware update Fitbit/Ionic?

My Huawei P20 Lite can't synchronise with my Ionic… Earlier it gave some problems with the Huawei P9 and P10.

A firmware update may not be what's required here. Fitbit say:

"Due to Bluetooth issues that prevent Huawei Lite models, including P8 and P9 Lite, from syncing with some devices, like Fitbit devices, our products are not compatible with these mobile phones"

taken from: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2315/?q=p8

My reading of that is that fitbit can't fix the issue with Huawei "lite" phones

A warm welcome to the Community @mdsterk! Just as our dear council @SteveH mentioned, your Fitbit Ionic doesn't need a firmware update.

Nevertheless, there's a compatible list of devices. Those have being tested by Fitbit, currently, Huawei P20 Lite isn't listed there but I can confirm that our team is always trying to add new phones.

Hope this helps!

My Ionic didn't sync at all with my P20 Lite, but when I got a new one from RMA, it DID sync, until I performed the mandatory firmware update to get it up and running with a clock face... Smiley Frustrated

So I would think it's not a hardware problem?

It's great to have you here @Angela_Irl and @Stefanozor! Currently, Huawei P20 Lite isn't listed as a supported device. However, Fitbit is always trying to add new ones to the list.

It's always recommended to try this syncing troubleshoot, just as @Stefanozor mentioned he update the firmware and it started syncing. I can't confirm that it will always sync because it hasn't been fully tested by Fitbit and this is the reason why it's not on the list.

Keep an eye on the list.

Hi Silvia,

You didn't read well... It didn't start syncing after the update. It stopped syncing.

Is there any news on when it will be tested? There are huawei devices in the list of compatible devices, but just not this one...

@renate.meier.1 I don't think it's just a matter of testing being required with the P20 Lite. See message 2 in this thread - there is a problem with the Lite phones that fitbit are unable to resolve.

Hi Team.

Months have passed and it's disappointing that this is still an issue. Chose the Ionic because its the best watch in my opinion, but sad to discover after purchasing, that there is a syncing issue with my P20 Lite. Please can you sort this out already

The strange thing is: everytime there is a firmware update available, I'm able to sync and notifications also work perfectly. Performing the update also works, but after that the syncing is broken again...

It's kind of like the app gets in another state whenever there is new firmware available, where the communication is reliable for some reason.

I'm confident that if the Fitbit technical team get together, they can fix this issue. The sync works perfectly for hours when the watch is first paired with the app. I get all notifications and all apps on the watch work. After a few hours, it stops syncing. It also pairs when the watch is on charge - so surely there is a resolution to this issue. Many Fitbit users have been struggling with this for months now.

This is the exactly what happened to me as well. It synced the first time then forced me to change the clock face and then hasn't synced since. I tried all different ways to connect yesterday and then couldn't believe reading all of these messages this morning. I have been a huge promotor of the Fitbit ionic vs garmin ...perhaps I was wrong. When is the P20 lite going to be working properly with the Fitbit ionic?

Hi there. I too have been a big Fitbit supporter and opted this brand over any other. Its a pretty straight forward resolution in my opinion - syncing only works under certain conditions and the Fitbit app only struggles with Huawei "Lite" phones. My sister has the Alta and had similar issues with her P10 Lite. After months of updates, it seems  be working now. I've only recently purchased the Ionic (at a premium price), only to discover that this very same issue persists and Users have been complaining for MONTHS with no resolution in sight. Come on now @Fitbit - sort this problem out!

P. S. Rrwalker - try keeping your Ionic on charge whilst syncing. If this doesn't work the first time, unpair your watch from your Bluetooth settings and restart the app - worked for me (Take note Fitbit technical team !!!)
