Ionic keeps turning off, cant restart unless connect to a charger

Hello everyone. I have a Fitbit Ionic that I bought around 6 months ago. Now its playing up for the last fortnight or so. Keeps shutting down.I can't restart it by pressing the two buttons (left and bottom right), unless I connect a charger, after which it turns on by itself without any button presses. It would show the time it had turned off. I have done all troubleshooting steps including a factory reset but the problem remains. Any ideas before I send it for repair/ replacement?

From your description it sounds like a battery issue as it will only power up while connected, so I would either take it back to where you bought it from or contact Fitbit support and send it back for replacement or refund.

Hi,

Interestingly, I have a similar issue.

I reset ( software @ hard ) and upgrade the firmware last night.

Now, I'm charging it to see what will be my autonomy.  If i get the same symptom, i will start to ask either a new watch or refund.

This is a shame because i really like it. It had almost five days of battery life, and I was using it nearly 24/7.

if someone has any suggestions, I would be happy to hear them.

Thank you all

Thanks. I have written to the support and waiting for their reply. Doesn't seem to be a battery issue but you never know. Seems to happen when syncing.

Thanks in any case.

Hi just a quick update about mine.

My battery is gone after 11h which is not acceptable.

Bizarre but but it seems that I will need to get a replacement.

Thanks for the update. How did you find out that the battery is gone?

Ok, here's a quick update.

I did many things (upgraded the firmware, updated the android app, deleted all non-core apps on the ionic) and the shutdown seems to have gone away 🙂

I will start installing the apps on ionic and see if the problem comes back again.

Cheers.

It started with same symptoms for me. Random shutdowns were not frequent in the beginning but in a months time i had to restart it using charger every day. Soon it died on me. tried factory reset, hard reset.. nothing worked. Contacted support and got a replacement.

Get it replaced before you run out of warranty.

Hi ,

the tests provided by the supports were not successful.

Anyway, the suppprt provided me the possibility of a replacement or 50% discount for a new charge 3 . As much as i’m Happy with the support I found ridiculous to provide 50% for some lower version of Fitbit traker . It makes me feel that I could get a refurbished ionic instead of a new one .

At the end of the day, it’s not my faut of your battery is faulty .

Anyway. Let me know how is your replacement tracker . Curious to know 🙂
