Ionic loses battery very quickly, gets hot on wrist

I had an odd problem with my Ionic the other day where the unlock code was constantly being asked for and then my contactless pay option showed up on screen.  Almost as if the left button was constantly being pressed in.  I reset the device and now the battery drains in a matter of hours and it gets very warm on my wrist.  I don't know if a recent update broke the device or what but at this point it is essentially useless.  Any thoughts on what to do to fix it?

Sometimes a few factory resets can work with issues. I say this slightly reluctantly though, as reading through some posts, device failures have occurred after a reset. But yours isn't useable at the moment, and heat is a killer of electronics. It wouldn't be helping the health of the battery either.

Best to shut it down through settings>About>Shutdown. Rather than risk further damage through getting hot.
