Ionic loses charge and not counting steps

Ionic started by loosing charge rapidly.

I thought it a fluke and put it back on charge.

The next day it would not count my steps and again - rapidly lost its charge.

Contacted help desk. Followed the below steps. Various times.

Reset watch - all three buttons until I see the logo. Release bottom button. Waited a couple minutes. Saw the welcome message.

Uninstaller my Firbit app. Reinstalled it.

Unpaired Ionic from Bluetooth. Paired it again.

Removed from app. Added it back to app.

The app says I need an update. I try install over WiFi and Bluetooth. The watch goes through the progress bar. Foes green. App however says the update failed.

I am on update 27.72.1.9. According to a search this is the most recent update.

In addition to not counting steps. Rapid discharge. Saying there is an update needed when there isn't- it says it needs to calibrate. I put the watch on charge. I cleaned the back with a cotton bud. No liquid. Made sure the surfaces were clear and clean. It keeps failing and gives me a red X.

Why has all.of this all of a sudden hit my Ionic?

What can I do to fix it?

This Ionic is less than 2 years old!!!????
