Ionic losing connection to phone constantly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I have a very short time frame of experience with the Ionic - 24 hours.  It has been a painful time with the Ionic not staying connected to my phone (Pixel XL running 8.0).  But during the past 24 hours I have had to restart or repair the ionic numerous times in order to get the watch to sync only to have it stop syncing within an hour or so.  I have reached out to support a couple of times and each time they have given me steps to get it connected - BUT that is not sustainable to do daily.

I cannot be the only one with this problem.  A quick search showed some steps to fix it which only work less than half of the time.

I am trying to figure out at this time if it is software or hardware problems.....  I really like the watch and want to get mine working with no problems.  I had been using a One and there was never any issues with sync or connections to my phone.

Honestly not sure what I am expecting to get from this post - maybe someone else had the same issues that they fixed?

Hello,

I have had the same issues with the Ionic as others here.  I use a Samsung Galaxy S6, and it doesn't seem to have a problem initially connecting.  However, within minutes, I have to reconnect.  I've also reinstalled everything to no avail.

I got my Ionic seven days ago, but I'm considering returning it if I don't get a solution in the next couple of days.  I loved my previous Fitbit and was looking forward to loving this one as much.

Ya I sent my fitbit ionic  back to fitbit for a exchange

I've gone off on them over the phone and every time I get a agent they spoke broken English. I went off out of frustration. My blaze is the best

but once I get the new one I'm selling it and getting a Samsung gear sport.. Peace out fitbit

You're a embracement

I have exactly the same issue. I have now run the set up numerous times, it works for few hours and than the sync refuses to work via Bluetooth or wifi.

I called customer support and they walked me through deleting my previous
fitbit. Seems somehow that was causing issues. It's been a little while
but that sends to have fixed the problem. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for your reply. After my last attempt this morning it seemed all working fine. Unfortunately after returning from the pool today it was dejavu. I was ready to return the watch but as so many people are having the same problem I am hopping Fitbit would fix this quickly. I don’t want to loose my new data.

Your data will stay on the app. I have data going back to 2015. Call
support. They were able to see my record and tell me what the glitch was.
My Iinic is still going strong. I even went doing and off Wi-Fi then it
reconnected when I got home.

If you read through the entire message. She contacted support that walked her through trouble shooting and NO it is not syncing correctly.

There's no reason to sync it's pretty cut and dry. Fitbit dropped the ball on the ionic simple. Moving on to Samsung gear sport probably

Just swapping mine with a new one as I seem to be having a worst experience than my other friends. If this does not work I will move to other sport watch

Oh ya. I sent mine in 2 weeks ago and there playing dumb never received it but I have the tracking number. This is my 2nd replacement. I'm using my blaze but most likely going to sell the ionic and by Samsung or something else. Fitbit if you're reading this you lost a long time customer and you should be ashamed

Hi everyone!

Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with this,  I'm aware that you probably already tried all the basic troubleshooting steps, however, it won't harm to take a look at all the information here about the requirements and troubleshooting steps that could help to improve the connectivity. Also please make sure to have the latest firmware update

Feel free to post here if you need further assistance, I'll be around!

none of that has helped and i think the key was wiping the bluetooth app cache(which shouldnt be needed ever really), im not sure what did it but i have removed the bluetooth pair, cleared a number of caches including the bluetooth app in the system apps in android, shut down the fitbit device, cleared data and cache in fitbit app in android, uninstalled it, rebooted, installed fitbit app, and then powered on the device and then it finally synced where previously it would post on the sync in the app "Found it!" and then just spin forever and time out. i had to do this after one day of use... i hope i dont have to do this regularly because thats kind of ridiculous and it destroys my battery life on both my phone and the fitbit device. we'll see how long this lasts before i return the ionic. I can post android logcats if needed if it happens again.

I am not sure what was my issue. I have replaced my device and now it works effortlessly. After seeing the number of complaints I can only assume that there is a batch of faulty watches.

sync only lasted until around 11:00 pm last night because i woke up this morning and it had lost sync  saying last sync was around 11. I was going kayaking today so i didnt try anything and wanted to keep my data but ive gotten home and did the dance of clearing cache and things until it randomly synced the days data. so now I did a factory reset on the device, wiped bluetooth, wiped and reinstalled the fitbit app, and then rebooted my phone and then went back through setup. its charging now because the update and the kayak trip today took the battery down to 30%... so much for the advertised 5 day battery life lol... 5 days of sitting on a desk not being used is how i see that battery usage lol

Well good luck everyone. I'm leaving fitbit for Samsung gear. So will see what results I get. And if fitbit if you're trolling this pass on this information how you sold a watch with countless problems.

So, it's now July 21, 2018.

I had a problem with my 17 month old Fitbit Charge 2, as the screen blacked out. Customer support was completely useless and told me that I was out of luck.

I am always very reluctant to give companies a second chance with my money, but I decided in this instance to purchase the Ionic. Ugh.

I have deleted the Charge 2, I have re-installed the App multiple times, turned the Bluetooth off/on...and I  STILL can't maintain the "syncing" of the App on my Apple IPhone 8, that has been fully updated.

There is a 45 day money back guarantee...I think I'm going to be taking FitBit up on that offer.

So frustrating.

I'll add to my own post above. I have had the Ionic for less than 48 hours and have had to re-sync it by doing all of this "shutting down", "re-starting", "deleting" etc. several times.

This shouldn't be happening.

My second Ionic has now packed up.  The screen is blank and will not come on despite performing the reset function and still able to sync to my phone.  I give up with this brand now.

Yep. They sent me a replacement ionic it's working ok. But end of the day it's garbage. On the phone they don't care. If apple had the same features I would have a apple watch. I'm thinking of selling this and buy the versa. I don't know if there's a lot of issues with that one. If not I'm jumping ship or stick with my blaze. Which is a great watch. But ya it's pathetic
