Ionic not counting steps and not recording lengths in the pool

Hello, 

 

Just yesterday I noticed that my fitbit ionic was no longer recording steps properly and this evening it failed to record a single length in the pool. I have visually inspected the device and noticed a tiny hole in the area where the armband connects to the watch. The hole seems to be plugged up and there was some water leaking out around the clog. I have not tried to clean it but I was looking for some guidance on this issue.
