Since the debut of sleep stages, I'd say once a month I wouldn't get sleep stage data with my old Blaze. According to Fitbit this happens when the heart rate monitor isn't working correctly or isn't worn correctly. I'm only saying this to establish that this was working fine when I used the Blaze.
The heart rate sensor is supposed to be better with the Ionic, but 4 of the first 7 days I've only gotten the "basic" sleep data. If this is a software issue and will be fixed with a firmware update that's fine, but if it's a hardware issue that's a problem. Let me know if you're seeing the same issue or if it's just me!

Hi
I had a similar problem. I made the strap a little tighter and it's been working since then

I'm having the same exact issue. I tried calling and they said I wasn't wearing it tight enough, I'm wearing it AS TIGHT as possible without cutting off circulation and it's been NO nights of actually getting any data!

Have you guys tried changing sleep sensitivity. You can change it from the app settings. It used to be available on Android but now it is just available on the iOS but you can also change it on your computer.
The sensitivity will change to a more detailed sleep, here is a link to tell you more about it What is the difference between the normal and sensitive sleep setting

Where have you been wearing it on your wrist? I've been having trouble getting detailed sleep data, I even tried it on my non-dominant hand and that still didn't work so then I wore it a little bit further down my wrist and that has helped me so far. I hope you guys get yours working!

I just got my Ionic yesterday and had the same problem. However, I did wear it kinda loose, I will try to tighten it up a little bit tonight and see if it works. I will let you guys know.

Try changing your clock face to one with the HR displayed. This fixed my detailed sleep tracking issue.

@CopperWolf808 To quote the material that you referenced on the difference between "Normal" and "Sensitive" sleep tracking:
Note that if you use a Fitbit device with heart-rate tracking to detect your sleep stages, this setting doesn't apply.

I have had a Ionic for about 3 or 4 months(since first shipped) and the detailed sleep was working great, until just recently. Still wear it the same tightness. Makes me wonder if there has been a software change or if my watch is not working right. Definitely something has changed.

I've only gotten 3 days in a month and a half. My Fitbit hr and Fitbit charge 2 worked fine. I've been using Fitbit products for over 2 years and never had this problem. I paid a lot for this iconic and I'm starting to get a little mad. I also noticed since getting this Fitbit I haven't achieved my goals in steps and calories one time in the month and a half which also makes me think it just doesn't work right. I do set my goals a little high to push myself but use to meet this these goals 4 to 5 times a week. Sometimes when I'm laying in bed I look at the heart rate and it's not even working. It's just too dashes. Apparently there is no way to recalibrate but if the watch is not defective that would be my guess. Very frustrated and feeling key down. Did you figure out the problem?

@rockstarsalvo what do you mean change to display with hr? I have the one that is on it when you get it. All the other ones I've tried seem to cause battery issues...

I’m having the same problems. I wish I had spent less and got a different Fitbit. It’s very annoying because I really would like to have these features work. It’s why I made the purchase.

This is happening to me now. All of a sudden it is not tracking my sleep stages. It always used to work perfect.

Mine just started doing this the night before last and last night. I have no idea what happened. I am using the same band and the same tightness.

In last 2 months, I have got detailed sleep data only twice. I am close to believing that moving from Blaze to Ionic was a grave mistake.. Never had any issue with my Blaze.. I walk almost the same distance everyday and yet i fall short of my goals.. Is it a piece of junk that i have purchased? Highly disappointed in Ionic...
