Ionic not giving sleep stages

I have had a Fitbit Alta HR for over three years with no problems giving the sleep pattern details (Rem, Light, Deep etc). Unfortunately recently the battery in it would not last for more than one day so decided to replace it with a new Fitbit, as that Alta HR is no longer available I bought a Iconic.

All this Ionic is giving me is the times that I am asleep (reasonably accurately), but no Rem, Light Sleep, or Deep Sleep data. I have tried it on both arms and both on top and underneath my wrist. As I never never had this problem with the Alta HR, is this Fitbit Ionic faulty. All other function appear to be working well though.

One other annoying feature is that quite often it is asking me to enter a numeric pass word which is a problem!. The numbers displayed on the watch are too small and my figures too big to put it in and subsequently have to at times have four or more goes at selecting the correct four numbers. This is really annoying. Is there a way to cancel this option?

Over all I'm quite pleased with the larger face size and the brightness of the display in full daylight (which is a great improvement over the Alta HR). The magnetic charging cable is also a great improvement over the re-charging method on the Alta HR. The only poor change is the strap fastening on it. Very difficult at times. Never had this problem with the Alta HR!.

So in a "nutshell" is this Iconic faulty and if so do I return it to Argos or to Fitbit for a refund and get one from a different manufacturer?
