Ionic not pairing with Boltune earbuds

I am so frustrated.  I am trying to connect my brand new Boltune earbuds with my Ionic.  THe earbuds are in pairing mode and I select the device from the +Audio Device menu.  It says pairing one time then spins and never completes the connection.  I have looked at old posts from 2018, but decided to start a new one.  The buds are BT5.0, and the Ionic requires at least 4.0, so it is not a compatibility issue.  I have rest the phone several times and cleared the cache on the bluetooth device.  I am at a loss for what to do.  is there anyone at Fitbit who can support this issue?  I so do not want to give apple business and get he apple watch, but if Fitbit is not going to work, this is where I may need to end up.  HELP PLEASE!

The solution offered did not work.  I have trashed the ionic connection...uninstalled the App.  Reinstalled, reconnected, reset the ionic, reste the headset and still nothing.  there has to be a firmware issue.  The headset connects with the phone within seconds no issues.  I unpaired from the phone to ensure there was no conflict.  There has to be a solution.  One should not expect a watch that is roughly 1.5 years old to not be compatible with a new headset.  Judging form a myriad of posts. I am not alone in this BT pairing issue
