Hey all,
wuick question: I run on the treadmill a lot in the colder months. When I first got the Ionic it was tracking my pace very precisely. I've noticed though although the speed, stride, and pace on the treadmill has been steady, the ionic is adding about 3 minutes to my miles.
As a test at I looked back at my last 5k that I knew was accurate. I ran one today to compare. Everything treadmill wise was the exact same however my ionic added 3 minutes to my pace and I was already at 5 miles on the treadmill before I hit 3 on the ionic.
Any idea where this huge gap could be coming from?

Here's a thought: Fitbit will adjust your stride length based on actual step vs GPS data anytime you run outside. There's a setting in the app to either enter a set value, or let it be calculated and updated.
So, if you've ever run using the GPS before, it could be that your stride length changed from whatever value was stored when your last treadmill run was more accurate.
If you know your stride length, you can enter it and not let the app update it. This might solve the issue.

Saw the same thing today. Treadmill registered 10m and ionic registered 6m. I started the fitbit treadmill exercise maybe 1 sec before treadmill and I had a 3min cool down and forgot to turn fitbit off for another 5 min so it should Register about 18min as displayed on the screen but only 6 min in the app. I think fitbit adjusts it due to various factors such as heart rate to avoid cheating

Mine was wildly inaccurate to begin with, but after running outside a couple times, it was pretty spot-on. However, about three firmware versions back, it went back to being wildly inaccurate, and it still is.

I calibrated my stride length 3 times by dividing the treadmill distance to ionic distsnce and finding the factor. That helped calibrate my stride length by same factor. Now a days its coming closer. I think 3/4 more calibration and it should be fine after that.

The idea is that it should calibrate itself after running outside. It did for me, then it went back to being uncalibrated... These are the little mysteries of life.
