Ionic not showing GPS data and KMs in bike ride

Hello Team - when I click on bike mode and click on start. The GPS just seems to be on searching mode and even when the bike ride has started it shows the time but no information regarding Kilo meters. This is very annoying. Need your help.

Note: it worked once day before after 6 days and then didn't worked today again.

@Fazalmkhan A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the detailed information shared.

I see where your disappointment is coming from.

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time.

Please check below some reasons why your GPS isn't working on your Ionic:

  • Make sure that you have a clear view of the sky when you start the exercise. Environmental factors, including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and thick cloud cover, can interfere with your device’s ability to connect to GPS satellites. If the signal is blocked—either because you're indoors, underground, or due to another reason—GPS won't work.

  • Check that GPS is turned on for the exercise. For more information, see How do I turn on GPS for an exercise on my Fitbit device?
  • Make sure that your device is charged to at least 80%.
  • Avoid trying to start an exercise with GPS several times in a row, which can prevent your device from connecting to GPS.

Let me know how the troubleshooting goes. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Hello Silvia – Thank you for your detailed reply. Please note that at the same moment if I start a workout of lets say running it will contact the GPS easily and draw a map for the same thing. It just doesn’t do for bike ride. For 5 days it will not do anything and on the 6th day it will. This is a very common problem all over the internet. Would appreciate if this can be fixed ASAP.

Note: I assure that it has nothing to do with GPS not getting in contact with the satellite as it is always a clear blue sky here where the features of all the remaining workouts work just fine.

@Fazalmkhan Thank you for getting back.

I appreciate that you mentioned you're experiencing this only when starting a bike activity. In this case, please try restarting your watch and try again, let me know if it finds the GPS signal faster or if it connects to it.

Let me know how the troubleshooting goes. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
