Since 11/5/17, my Ionic has been unable to track detailed sleep stages, and only shows simplified sleep details. I have been tracking various forum posts claiming the issue has been resolved with a Fitbit app update/manual shutdown within Ionic settings/hard reset with a button-press combination... but none of those solutions have worked for me.
I have followed all of the advice in the Help section of the Fitbit app (charge the battery, wear the device higher/tighter, etc.) with no success.
Any help or clarity on a timeline for the fix would be fantastic!

@Dellago Welcome to the Fitbit family! Are you still experiencing this? There was an update for Ionic released on 12/05/2017. The update should have better your Ionic's functionality.
Also, thanks for following the tips on the help article!
Keep me posted!

@Itchiballz Welcome to the Fitbit family! How are you tracking your sleep? Are you using the Fitbit app or the automatic sleep function on your Ionic?
There are some reasons as to why the sleep stages may not be recorded. Please check this post for more details about this.
Also, you can try performing a restart on your Ionic. This should also help.
Keep me posted!

I've tried all of these suggestions and I don't know why my sleep stages won't reliably work. I've hard reset it, powered on and off, wore it higher on my arm, updated to the latest firmware.
I'm seeing heart rate readings throughout the night so I just don't get why this device doesn't reliably work. Clearly I'm not the only person having issues with this. It's frustrating. 3 days ago it worked for 3 nights in a row. I've done nothing different in the manner that I wear it to bed but it hasn't worked since. Is it buggy software? Do I have a defective unit and need to return it?

I’ve also had this experience. My ionic was recording detailed sleep stages for the first ten days or so but then stopped abruptly. For the past three days, I’ve tried all of the suggestions in this and other threads to no avail - I get just the asleep/awake/restless without the detail information. Sleep tracking is the reason I bought this device so I’m very frustrated.

Hi There,
brand new Ionic with latest firmware and a full battery but it won’t record sleep stages. I have read many of the posts here and it sounds like a common issue.
What is the timeline for a fix? $400 device that’s not working. If there is isn’t a clear timeline, might need to return it for the Apple Watch. Not what I want to do.

Hi,
I am new to the fitbit community and this is the first tracker i have bought.
After a lot of research I decided to go with the Fitbit Ionic, the main reason for this was the sleep stage pattern readings I would get
It didnt work the first two nights but did on the third but hasnt worked since.
I did nothing different on any of the nights I wore it to bed all the other functions work fine during the day.
I have also tried reading through various threads to try and see a fix for this.
Is it a bug problem and is there a fix in sight @Fitbit

I just got a new phone on Friday (Galaxy S9) and since then sleep stages has worked every night since. I didn't adjust the way that I wore the watch or anything. It never worked with my old Galaxy S7 Edge unless I wore the watch up on my forearm and even that only worked sometimes. This now makes me think that this issue has something to do with the way the Ionic communicates with certain phones.

I found an option called "Sleep Tracking" which was set to "Normal" and I changed it to "Sensitive" and now the detailed stages are showing up.
Note: This option is on your device section on the fitbit.com website (not watch app or watch).

Im so tired of wasting money on fit bit watches. The Ionic cost me $250 AND IT FAILED AFTER 4 months. The replacement one of the charge buttons on the back came loose and somehow fell out of the watch, can't even charge it
