Ionic not syncing and won't pair

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Ionic stopped syncing

I have soft reset

I have turned bluetooth off and on

I have checked my app is up to date

I have checked my phone is up to date

I have deleted all old phones from the list

I have soft reset, again

I have uninstalled the app then installed again

At each of these points I have tried to sync but nothing happens

I have hard reset

Now it won't pair with my phone, device not found.

My Ionic was a replacement about a week ago after a month old Ionic spat its dummy and wouldn't charge.

What now?

Fixed it myself, so far.

Removed the app from my android phone and downloaded the app to my tablet.

Paired up just fine.  Even though it'll only sync once a day,  due to not lugging my tablet around at least the Ionic is useable now. Maybe an issue with phone compatibility and the app?

Just a thought I had during my last issues with syncing and pairing.

Can the watch run without the app?  I had the thought that I'd have happily never brought an Ionic and just brought a halfway decent watch for the same money.  I really like the Ionic because of the way it looks rather than it's not often used, features.

Is there a way that it can run as a watch without the app?

I'd be interested to hear from a fitbit tech guru.

Thank you for your reply, @SunsetRunner.

I am glad to hear you're back on track. I understand your concern, you can verify that your phone is compatible with the Fitbit app at fitbit.com/devices. To resolve difficulty with syncing, check our tips in Why won't my Fitbit device sync? I also would like to add that the Fitbit app is needed in order to use the Ionic.

Hope this helps.

Hi @SunsetRunner you need the app to set up and use the Ionic.

Stepping in the U.S.A. since September 2013. Android 14

Setting up yes, but if you then removed the app will it still work, ie steps, time and heart rate?

Repeated troubleshooting steps didn't work.

My phone was not listed as a problem device, Galaxy A10s but still wouldn't sync or pair.

My Samsung tablet however, paired straight away, once I down loaded the app.

It’s good to see you in the community and thank you for your help, @Odyssey13. Thank you for your reply, @SunsetRunner.

@SunsetRunner I appreciate your efforts and the additional details. If you're using several devices for syncing, the watch is trying to connect to both and the Bluetooth connection can be interfered. Check if having another device not nearby or turning off Bluetooth on it helps. You can also confirm our tips for Android devices in What should I know about using the Fitbit app on my Android phone?

Regarding your concern, your watch will work without the app, but may show an incorrect time if it is not being synced with the app. This will result in incorrect daily stats as it may reset your stats at different time and not at midnight.

Hope this helps.
