Ionic not tracking steps and shows "Data not cleared, sync and try again."

Ionic stopped tracking steps.  Tried restarting with 3 buttons but would not sync. Tried this several times,  re-syncing, removed app, etc. Even restarted phone after uninstalling app.  Now Ionic won't come back on.. says Data not cleared,  sync & try again.
