For the last few months the Ionic has started to abort the swim activity itself when I swim. Sometimes it tracks it to the end so I can finish the activity but about half of the times it stops in the middle of the swimming exercise, on different laps all the time. I have followed the correct usage guidelines about swimming like dont rest in the middle of a swim, change strokes etc. The Ionic is updated. I know you can manually change the time and distance after to make it more correct, but all the other data will be wrong and its really annoying that it doesnt work. Is there a bug or a fix for this really annoying problem?

Welcome back @SunsetRunner. Thanks for the details mentioned. I appreciate that you've followed the correct procedure to track your swim activity.
I'll be happy to help you getting your activity tracked. I would like you to make sure that you've properly entered your pool length to track your distance and duration. Also, please restart your Ionic and try tracking another swim activity, you can double check this article that contains more information about tracking swims with your Fitbit device.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi, Silvia and thanks for your reply!
I have tried your suggestions without any luck. I restarted the Ionic and have tried the swim excercise in the app twice since. The first time it did fine (usually it works about every second time I swim) but this morning it was back on finishing the workout by itself without me finishing it in the app. It stopped tracking the swimming on lap #7 instead of #20. It alwasys stop tracking on different laps so sometimes its on lap #15 etc. The swim activity in the exercise app is set for the right pool length and I know it tracks that correct because I can feel the buzz when turning.
Also, the Ionic has NEVER automatically tracked any swim activitiy even though I have the right settings for it, I've set if for 10 minutes but it has never tracked this automatically. It can track Walking activities automatically. So far I have only used the walking and swim activity in the exercise app.

@SunsetRunner this sound like water interacting with the screen. Although, swim activity has a touch lock now and requires using buttons in the water. Make sure you are up to date with the firmware. I use "Workout" to be able to register HR hence I experience pausing and terminating exercise all the time due to contact with the water but it should be working if you pick "Swim". Make sure you don't press buttons accidentally either (I have no idea how it could happen but just saying).

Thank you @SunsetRunner, that thought has crossed my mind, but I dont see how its possible to accidently press the buttons either ☺️ Thanks for the tip of maybe using the regular workout activity, but then I guess you loose the pool lenghts so you have to count manually?

@SunsetRunner I use regular workout only to be able to use HR monitor but it isn't solution. Need to stop often and check whether activity keepa recording. Regular workout ( or anything else than Swim ) lacks of screen lock so such pauses and accidental ends will happen for sure (for me it happens several times per session). I track laps and other details using another watch. With Ionic I just want to have an activity with HR registered hence using workout not swim. In theory, if you use swim the water shouldn't affect screen and you shouldn't be able to pause by accident but it's Fitbit so hard to take it for granted 😉
