Ionic not turning on after battery was fully drained.

My Ionic will not turn on or appear to charge. I have called support and followed the steps to resolve the problem. Basically hold all three buttons in for 10 or so seconds. This happened after about 14 months. The watch is now a brick. Fitbit' solution is to sell me it again at a discount. This seems to be a problem with the Ionic line so buying it again would be insane. Has anyone found a way to fix this issue?

This just happened to me too! Day before yesterday. ...wasn't sure if it was the charger plug or the watch. Was thinking I would by a new charger plug and see if that is the issue. If it still doesn't work, then I know it is not a plug and the wasted cost is negligible.  thoughts?

I'm having this same issue. It's worked flawlessly until now. I tried to reset with the left and bottom buttons for 10 seconds, nothing. I tried charging it overnight with USB and AC adapter. I didn't think this would happen with the Ionic. It did happen with my Blaze before this. I may go buy an Apple watch now. This is frustrating after owning a Blaze and Ionic.

The same exact thing happened to me yesterday.  Was working fine (sometimes sync issues) but put the charger cable on it and saw the 0% light up but when I went to put it on it was completely dead, blank, dark, nothing!  I called customer support(less) and went through the steps to reset it like I already knew how to do because of the syncing issue.  I purchased this watch in October 2017.  Because of the syncing issue they sent me a replacement in July 2018.  I asked about the warranty and they went off of the original purchase date of the watch I no longer had rather than the date I received the replacement and all I was offered was a 40% off coupon emailed to me and I stated what's the point as I will never buy another Fitbit product after the issues I have had and now have read about from countless others.

I originally was thinking the charger was bad too. I have three chargers.
They all do not work. The watch is the problem.

Update: I am not going to buy any more Fitbit "toys" if this is how Fitbit goes about addressing issues. I hope to spare anyone from purchasing any Fitbit items

I originally thought the charger may be the issue. Turns out it is in fact the watch. I have three chargers and they all do not work. I cant believe Fitbit does not stand behind their product. Its not kike we are having a problem with syncing or accuracy. The watch does not turn on at all. With all the people talking about this issue I feel Fitbit is doing a dis-service to its customers by not replacing the watch for what is obviously a wide spread issue.

I spoke with Support and they only offered a discount on another ionic. Said my watch is broken. Thanks for flagging my post. I hope they find a solution for this problem.

Thanks for your response @SilviaFitbit

I've tried to charge the Fitbit Ionic on my laptop and through an AC adapter and it does not charge at all. I don't even get a 0% as I've seen online in some youtube videos. I also have tried another charging cable. I get no power at all to the Ionic. It's been working great up till now and with no warning or symptoms The Fitbit gets no power at all.

Are all you moderators programmed to say the same thing? It would be nice if one of you actually delt with the problem instead of treating people like they dont know how to use Fitbit products. But your willing to sell them another product that will most likely do the same thing. Nice to see you guys really care.

Yes, I bought the new charger and it didn’t do anything for the watch either. It is the watch...dead as a door nail. 😕 so very disappointed. I have had many Fitbit’s over the last seven years...and they are all still actually working! This one stopped working in less than 14 months!

If all you moderators have to offer for help is the same push bottons process, I'm good, how about just taking care of the issue Fitbit knows exist at this point. Why not offer me a new watch or to fix mine. I don't won't a discount on a watch someone else had a issue with. It's nice to see that Fitbit can care less if they loose customers.

It still will not turn on or charge. So disappointed in this product! ...and I have faithfully worn a Fitbit almost everyday since 2012! The worst part is that all the previous ones I have had are still working great. Unfortunately I don’t own any of them anymore as each time I get a new one I donate the old one. Not sure I will get another one after this experience with the Ionic...it didn’t even last 14 months (which in my eyes is really bad considering the one I started with in 2012 is still going! Why can one work for 7 yrs and another not even last 1.5 yrs.

Why is it so many people are encountering dead ionic; is Fitbit pushing an update? My ionic is also dead as a door nail. I had low battery and put it on a charger for the night and the next day it would not come on. I have not done anything except charging it and now I have bricked ionic. I think Fitbit need to address our issue. A lot of people stuck by Fitbit when Ionic was having all kind of issues at he beginning, now its time for Fitbit to do the same to its customers instead of telling us how to restart the device or offering a discount. what I want is working ionic!!!!!  not a run around. And if Fitbit device just go out without any warning out of blue; then why should I trust any other device that you offer (even with discount).

Best Answer

Add another one to the list- same symptoms, same "troubleshooting", same results- a useless brick. Interesting how many of these ionics have crashed within the past week. This is now the third fitbit product that has expired at an early age on me. It will now be my last. The watch was great functionally when it was working but to have to replace a product every year or so due to poor design (or planned obsolescence??)  is really unacceptable. Makes Apple's job a lot easier when your competition can't execute and worse, doesn't respect their customers- trying to sell yet another flawed product rather than replacing something that is obviously badly designed from a longevity standpoint.

Update: Following up on my post and responding to this post from RAS11 specifically, I have been thinking more about this issue. I purchased my Ionic in Dec 2017, and it crapped out April 2019- essentially 16 months old, 4 months after the "warranty protection" (which is very limited by the way). Anyway I wonder how many of the failures in this post string occurred with say production of the Ionic in the latter part of 2017?  (note there are several other strings that have the same problem ID'd but with a different title). In short I wonder if there was a production or components/parts issue here we are witnessing that Fitbit is not willing to acknowledge? In other industries consumer complaints would trigger a recall. In Fitbit's case, it seems this is an opportunity to move more product.

Its like what happened back in 2017 1st ionic, where a lot of people had all kind of issues till Fitbit finally acknowlages that thier is an issue and pushed an update. Now I see that our ionic is going dead in the middle of the night while its charging.....uhh. Was their an update that brick the device ? its kind of odd that they never requested for us to send our ionic so they can see what the issue is/was; instead they are giving a discount for us to buy more fitbit. I do like Ionic but without knowing why a well working device just went dead; it is hard to justefy spending more money again. For me Fitbit just lost my trust. I know electronic devices can go bad, but its odd without any issues or sign of any problem (i.e. not holding charge or not turning on  or losing charg faster or unable to charge) this device just went dead.

Ionic charged last night, went to bed, I see that it synced at 5.01am and is now showing 0% battery life. Trying to get a hold of a contact for fitbit, but I do not see any direct contact details.

Plenty of contact details available when you are looking to buy something. Time to start calling it on fitbit on social media.
