Ionic not working despite charging it

My ionic will not work, despite charging through mains electricity and USB port on laptop. I've cleaned the docking point and tried holding down 2 and 3 of the side buttons all at once. I regularly swim in pools but recently surfed in the sea. Suspiciously it stopped working a few hours later after the surf

Read/search the archived posts of the last months/year or two on swimming with an Ionic. You've been lucky. The surfing will have subjected the device to higher water pressure that flooded it. You dodged a bullet (somehow) by swimming with it. Now you've lucked out.

Hopefully it's still in warranty?

It's working now! Found a suggestion buried away in the forums to press all three buttons at once. After holding for precisely 12 seconds, release the bottom right. Miracle, I've spent hours over the last two weeks trying to fix it. I'll stick to swimming only with the Ionic.
