Ionic only displays graphics, no letters or numbers

A few weeks ago, my Ionic stopped displaying the characters and numbers in messages and for apps. The clock face still works, and the timer app works, but I only see the graphic, no text, for notifications, and none of the letters appear when I go to the settings menu. I tried changing clock faces; that was successful not did not resolve the problem. A factory reset (holding the buttons) didn't help either.

For example, when I go to my daily (swipe up), I see the icon for steps, with the circle indicating the progress, but not the numbers of the step count. Or when I go into the alarm app, I see the icon for if the alarm is set on the right side, but it's blank where the alarm time should be.

At the advice of the support team, I performed a full factory reset (pushing all three buttons). After initializing the device and updating the software, the display appears fully functional.

Hi

I have the exact same issue. How did you perform the 3-button reset. I have not found a description other than accessing the menus (that for me are not showing the text)

Welcome to the Community @lcnilsen. Thanks for the details mentioned.

You can follow these instructions to perform the 3 factory reset button:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, advise the customer to use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware (See How do I update my Fitbit device?).

I'll be around if you need further assistance.
