Ionic pairing difficulties with Jabra Elite Active 65t headset

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I love my Fitbit Ionic, unfortunately, there is something seriously wrong with the bluetooth functionality of this device.

I use a Jabra Elite Active 65t headset, which I have paired the Fitbit with successfully previously. Unfortunately, the pairing was lost after pairing the headset with another device and I needed to re-pair the fitbit and headset.

This simply fails. The Fitbit finds the device, but the wheel just keeps spinning when I try to pair, while the headset keeps telling me to pair with a device.

I can pair the headset to my phone, iPad and computer without any issues, only the fitbit has problems.

I have had these problems several times.

I've tried rebooting the fitbit, resetting the headset, no difference. The only thing that works is to factory reset the Fitbit. The problem with this approach is that it takes forever, as you have to reinstall and resync everything. I didn't exactly want to spend 2 hours to reconfigure my watch when I was going to go on a run 5 minutes ago.

Is there anyway I can clear the Fitbit bluetooth configuration without resetting the device completely? (I don't mean deleting the device from the list, I've done that, the problem it still refuses to pair the headset).

This is really completely ruining my experience with the watch that I can listen to music when I run.

Welcome to our Community Forums @ksven, I'm happy to see that you love your Ionic, let me give you a hand with your pairing difficulties.

Let me appreciate your time and efforts troubleshooting this matter prior posting, thanks for your patience. Seems odd that your Fitbit is having pairing difficulties only with your headsets. I would recommend you to add the Bluetooth device again, the same way you did the first time. When you add a new Bluetooth audio device for the first time, make sure both the device and your watch are in pairing mode. To pair a new Bluetooth audio device, follow the steps below:

  1. Start by activating pairing mode on your Bluetooth headphones, speaker, or other audio device.
  2. On your watch, open the Settings app
) and then scroll down and tap Bluetooth.
  3. Tap + Audio Device. Your watch searches for nearby devices.
  4. When your watch finds nearby Bluetooth audio devices, it shows a list on the screen. Tap the name of the device you want to pair.

Keep me posted. I'll be looking to your reply if you need further assistance.

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, what you are describing is exactly what I did. My headsets just keeps asking me to pair, while the fitbit shows the spinning animation endlessly.

I did my previous solution and factory reset the ionic. And voila, the headset pairs immediately. The problem is factory resetting takes forever  since I need to reinstall latest fitbit software and apps, and resync music.

I suspect there is a bug in the ionic when you remove a paired device, maybe it is not completely removed from the fitbits memory?

I partly blame my headset too, as I frequently need to re-pair the headset if I use it on more than 2 different devices, but at least my other devices handle re-pairing successfully.

For now I will try to not pair my headsets to any other devices and see if that "solves" the problem, but I still strongly suspect the Bluetooth pairing on the ionic has a bug.

I have exactly the same issues with exactly the same two pieces of equipment. Ionic finds Jabra Active 65t but will not pair! It has in the past but the process is too haphazard and stressful that I now just use a more trustworthy iPhone 6 as the Ionic is so hit and miss. Infuriating and followed all forums and Googled it to death. Really should not be this hard to enjoy my two pieces of technology

Hello! I'm happy to see you again participating in our Community @hesslemount. Thanks for your reply and update @ksven I'm happy to continue assisting.

@ksven I appreciate your detailed post about your concern, your feedback is appreciated. Surely, factory resetting your device should not be the only way to connect your headphones. After further investigating this situation for you, I found that there is a way to restart the Jabra Elite Active 65t. To do so, you can press and hold for 10 seconds the Multi-function button on the right earbud until the LED flashes purple. Once you complete this process, please re-pair the headsets with your Ionic device and let me know how it goes. Same for you @hesslemount I'm sorry to see that you feel that way. Can you please attempt the steps above and let me know if this procedure resolve your difficulties?

I'll be here. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Tried the 10-seconds long press weeks ago. Worked twice and now no longer works. Literally tried everything but still not pairing. Ear buds to iPhone 6 pairs every time but not to the Ionic. I’ve tried everything except a factory reset when it’s taken me forever to download music onto a Fitbit that won’t link to my buds

Hi Ricardo! I appreciate the continued efforts. I should have been more detailed in my previous postings; I have tried to reset the Jabra elite 65t until it flashes purple, I originally thought the headset was the culprit. But resetting made no difference, the only thing that makes any difference is a fitbit factory reset.

The fact that a factory reset on the fitbit ionic actually does something should give you a hint that there is something with the software/firmware of the ionic that has issues.

I don't want you to suggest any more things for me to try, as I think I've tried everything. 😉 It would be great if a bug report could be filed so one of your developers can investigate why a factory reset fixes pairing issues 🙂

Hello,

I was having pairing issues between my Active Elite 65t and Fitbit Ionic as well.  I tried all suggestions and none was a viable solution or fix.  By complete accident, what I did find works perfectly well is to first open the music on the Ionic, and then take the right ear bud out of the case.  Watch the earbud and you will see it blink green and then a blue solid dot.  The ear bud then connects to the watch, you hit Play and the music kicks in.

If I take the ear bud out of the case and then click on the music icon in the Ionic, the pairing never happens.

I tried this a dozen times throughout the day and it worked 100% of the time.  Best of all, it is a simple, quick fix.

Hi Ricado

I have same issue as @ksven. Believing me - we are experience user.

I repeated many times ( reset Inoic -> waiting 2 hours to re-configure Inoic -> Add Jabra ) BUT it only used for few times.

Again we have to re-pairing bu many ways ( shutdown Inoic + Earbuds -> restart -> re-pairing) BUT screen always stop at " Pairing Jabra Lite Active 65t" and seem be never success.

And until now, I have to use as:

+ Listen to music: Phone and Earbuds

+ Tracking: Inoic

=> We could not buy Inoic and using as Charge 3

Please support us to solve the issue

Thank you

Yeah, I have the same problem trying to pair my headset, Creative Outlier Air, where the Ionic finds the device and then says pairing but never completes. I have reported this to Fitbit and asked them is it a ploy to get everyone to buy their own brand bluetooth set (which they deny)? All I got is that their technical department is "working on the issue" and will try and get a resolution as soon as possible. Not much good since my headset pairs effortlessly to every other device I own. Can't be hard to fix this problem, if Fitbit want to keep their customers, but seems that this mustn't be a priority
Pairing Forever !!Pairing Forever !!

My problems persisted to the point where I returned the Jabras. Got a
cheap set of true wireless ear buds ($40) that are IPX8 rated and they work
great.

further my polar H10 no longer can connect to my IPhone 6 with the Iconic connected.

Hi Louis Rj and the Fitbit Team

So, this is your last support?

Instead of give us the fixing - you guide us throw away Jabra and should buy Flyer?

We still hoping that Fibit can solve this issue because you had experience.

Thanks

I got way that works. But it's not great.

I initially thought that I cannot connect to my Fitbit ionic. The headset was paired with my phone (but not connected).

Upon reading a bit online, I did the following:

I held the play (right earbud) button for 10 seconds to go into pairing mode. I then picked it up on my Fitbit and paired successfully. It played music 100% via the Fitbit.

Afterwards, I could not connect to my phone again. I select the headset in my phones Bluetooth list, but doesn’t want to connect. My phone then picks up a new Jabra listed device, but doesn’t want to connect.

I then hold the play button in for 10 seconds to put it in pairing mode and then I can connect to my phone. But then the connection to my Fitbit doesn’t work anymore.

Would appear that the headset can only be paired to 1 device at a time. Kind of a hassle to have to repair, each time I want to use it. Not sure if Jabra or Fitbit is the issue. Jabra customer service says that Jabra is not supported by Fitbit Ionic or visa versa.

Kind regards,

Andre
