Ionic racing heart rate and not syncing.

I purchased my Ionic in February 2018.  For approximately the first year everything worked fine.  In the last few months however, it only syncs with my Android watch when it feels like it.  Sometimes it will go up to a week without syncing and then work for a few days and then stop again.  I spent hours on the phone one day with tech support who finally suggested that I find an iPhone to sync with.  Not really excited about switching phones to sync. Now at least once a day the Ionic shows my resting heart rate at 140+.  This lasts for an hour or so and then goes back to properly recording my heart rate.  Interestingly, it seems to record the proper heart rate when I am actually exercising.  Is there any fix for these problems or am I stuck with an ionic that only works as a watch?

It's great to see you around @bleamsy. Thanks for the detailed information shared.

I would like you to double check that you have a supported device, this can be the reason why your Ionic isn't always syncing. You probably tried this syncing troubleshooting with the customer representative but you can try to perform it whenever your tracker isn't syncing. Can you let me know which mobile device you're using?

Regarding the heart rate readings you're getting, please confirm you've tried these tips to improve the readings

I'll be around if you need further assistance.
