Ionic registering LARGE amount of steps while sleeping and tracker not being worn

I just got my Ionic yesterday and have been pretty impressed overall so far! I had mine plugged in last night for a good charge while I slept and it downloading/syncing my 3 pandora stations. When I woke, the stations had downloaded properly which I liked but my Ionic has me down for having already walked over 13,000 steps for the day, and I hadn’t even worn it to bed. All I can theorize is that the downloading process was a bit of a workout for the tracker and that’s how it thought I had walked 13,000 steps perhaps but this seems REALLY wacky! Is there a way you can zero out your steps for the day or why would it even register ANY steps if all it did was lay on my nightstand charging and downloading Pandora stations all night? I would appreciate some clarification thanks!

Hi, @Stephen831, could your Ionic have been near a vibration source (such as a fan, dehumidifier, or even a computer CPU)?  In that case it could interpret those vibrations as steps and that could explain what you are seeing.

If you can see from your graphs what time those steps came in you can log driving to zero out your steps.  Be sure to dollow the instructions carefully and to search for and find the built in driving activity, as if you create a custom activity it will not work.

My guess is that it was near something that caused a vibration and therefore false steps.  This is also a long stretch, but was there a slight earthquake where you are last night?  We occasionally get those here and that sometimes causes false steps.

Here are instructions on how to remove steps and floors

Just an FYI as well, if you are in the States, Daylight Savings Time began last night, so your clock may be off a little bit.  Sync your device to the computer or app and you should be fine.

@DramaQueenDiva, I think you will find that your post pretty much repeated mine.  Smiley Happy
