All of my buttons have stopped working and my Ionic keeps switching itself from the daily activity screen to the output device screen and back over and over. I did the shut down but it turns itself back on. Any ideas?

It's great to have you here @BMcNeely! Let me help you with the issue you're having with the buttons and the screen on your Ionic. You may be able to remove dust or dirt by gently using a toothpick around the button. If this does not improve the button performance, you can try to clear debris using canned air. Hold the tracker at arm's length and spray once to loosen any dirt or dust that may have accumulated around the button.
After this, try to perform the restart once again.
Keep me posted!

I tried all that and nothing worked. I even reset it several times. I spoke with tech support about it and they said they are going to send a replacement one.

Same thing happened to my Ionic, I went through the troubleshooting steps laid out in this thread and then called Fitbit Support, they were wonderfully helpful and are arranging a replacement after confirming the problem and full factory reset.

I am also having the same issue with my Fitbit Ionic. The two buttons on the right are not working at all and I cannot swipe the screen to access my stats from today. I have followed all of the trouble shooting steps suggested in this thread but nothing has fixed the problem. Could someone please help. Thanks heaps.

Hi. I have the same problem since 3 days. This on my 5th Ionic (2x water damage, 1x defective step counter, 1x lost and now this error -> I also guess it is water related). I love Fitbit OS, the apps and the watch itself. But quality seems to be clearly a problem. You should definitely work on your QA and manufacturing process. Is there a way to backup watch data before requesting a replacement? I started the game "treasure track" from Fitbit Labs the third time and i am getting tired of starting it again and again.
Before you ask. I already tried using canned air at the buttons. A complete reset was not done till now because I wanted do ask about the possibillity data backup before.

FYI
I changed the clock face to the standard one (gauges). Nothing changed, buttons still not worked. After that I opened "Settings" and switched the Ionic of. Connected the cable and loaded it for about 6 hours in off mode. After switching on the buttons worked again. Strange. Before that I tried reboots without effect.
Tipp: If someone has the same problem. I was able to get back to the home screen by pressing the left and bottom right button together for one to two seconds. Touch screen worked.
I guess the problem is a software problem. But strange that it suddenly occured without installing anything new.

Now only two of three buttons are working. The right upper button is still not working. Any info about the possibility of an app data backup (e.g. Treasure Trek)?

Similar behavior exhibited by my fitbit ionic after a swim.
Left (payment) button went absolutely crazy, constantly thinking it is being pressed. Right buttons did not work at all. Meaning they were not responsive, there was no issue with not working mechanically due to dust etc. After two factory resets/setups, no relief. Occasional change in the behavior, with right buttons working, left not working, then back again to right buttons not working, left working / not working, etc.
I left Ionic to completely drain, then recharged, and is working well now, second day.
PS. there was an issue trying to charge the completely drained ionic, when it would not start charging. A restart (on charger) by pressing L+BR buttons solved this issue.

Turning on the GPS by starting a run function would probably help drain the battery faster.
